The day didnt start out too well a couple of our dogs had a hog but by the time we got close it broke free got away. So we rested the dogs and started hunting again this time the dogs crossed a big gulch and were moving fast toward another gulch so we headed to them. As we climbed out of the gulch and started to head down towards the dogs that were now treed further down the valley. The few dogs with us shot back into the gulch we just came out of. My friend and I looked at each other like "Not now" because we could see the other dogs treed on the Garmin. All of a sudden a loud roar broke the silence and a dog yelling so we raced back into the gulch to help the dogs. When I finally got down to the river and came around the bend I seen this boar sitting in the river with only 2 dogs on him one on each ear. Just as I was about to grab his back leg he threw one of the dogs over a huge boulder in the river so now he only had one dog on him. As he turned toward the dog that was still grabbing his ear he saw me and made a go at me but luckily I was able to grab him before he made it around to me. I was able to stick him and hold on till the other dog made it back and grabbed him by the ear again but by then it was pretty much over. We dressed him quick and packed him on our back up the gulch and left him in the shade while we went to the others dogs who had a nice fat sow further down the same gulch about 110-120#. Great day and no dogs lost just some holes we patched up from the big guy so were happy and not to mention the nice meat we got for the smoker

Tremendous Boar. Very well done indeed.

The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends.

I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.

I am glad for you that the hog in the pict is dead. Otherwise you might be "bored". Eeker

Just kidding, great hog. I got a good boar many years ago on the Big Island. He ripped up several dogs, the smallest of which (supposedly the testicle-grabber as opposed to a front-end dog) was gutted. We packed his guts back inside, wrapped him in a T-shirt and carried him to the vet. He survived. The hog fell to one shot from a 357 lever-action. Your hog is a dangerous dude to be taken with a knife and only one dog on an ear. Great Job.

Aloha All

Thanks for the compliments!

Duckman- Im sure you can still do this just gotta find the right area etc.

Eny- Who did you hunt with on Molokai I have a few friends over thier glad you had a great time hunting here.

SGraves- That was funny as hell I couldnt stop laughing Smiler Where did you hunt on the Big Island? Glad you got to experience it while here in Hawaii. Internal injuries are our worst nightmare because you almost always have to get the dogs to a vet ASAP and sometimes thats very hard to do given the circumstances.

Shankspony- IT WAS AS BACK BREAKER Smiler

Geoff- Eh Howzit Unko Geoff longtime no see, how are you doing? Hope all is well with you and da Ohana. Im sure you got some as big or bigger in the last 30 yrs Smiler Just looks big on my back LOL!!!

ALOHA!!!
