This is a hog that I live-caught in Florida back in '04. His live weight was just under a half-pound........ jumping

hey whitworth

what was the line out of the movie "Doc Hollywood" with Michael J Fox

"Thats a mighty fine looking pig ya' got there"

Did you raise him or let him go.

My daughter raised a pig for her ag class and named him Wilbur. It was a lot of fun and work. She sure got attached to that pig. It about killed her and my wife when they marched him up into the truck after he had been sold.

Going to my lease again this weekend. May get a chance to knock off a couple of his cousins.

Hey Geedubya! Nope, we let him go where we found him. At the time I was living in an apartment and it wouldn't have gone over too well! Big Grin I am sure they would make a great pet and will hopefully be in a position to raise one in the future. Good luck this weekend!

Too bad you couldn’t keep it. Could you imagine training a couple and leaving the dogs at home!

Looks alot like Matt Kelman's "Pig" down in Australia. He caught it as a baby in the outback, too.

Took this pict down in the Argentine Chaco last month. Saw many pigs every day, some of which were feral, and some of which went back to their criollo owners houses/huts every night.

Spots are not a wild pig trait. If you see spots you are looking at a feral or domestic pig.

About 4 breeds of swine originating in Europe have spots, and couple American ones do as well.

Yes, lots of ferals in the US have spots. But that wasn't the point. They don't have other domestic pig traits (the ones in the picture) -- they have straight tails, long noses, and they aren't low and long like a domestic......

Whitworth,
Here's another Argentine hogpic.
The pig in front has a "razorback" look to him.

That's cool!! Talk about raised hackles!

Here's a photo I posted elsewhere on this forum, but these two sows were the pets of an acquaintance of mine. He found them in the forst when they were shoats and their mom had been killed by a hunter. They aren't of mixed ancestry!

True Eurasian wildboars have a trianglular face when viewed from the side.

Feral hogs have dished faces like domestic swine do.

Every pig on this page has a dished face.

Yorkshire, Tamworth, Large White, and Landrace among others are all long snouted domestic breeds of swine.

Actually the two I am petting in the photo were caught wild up in the mountains of Bosnia and they are not ferrals -- they are real wild pigs.

I've seen that he has logged on over the last few days, but he hasn't posted anything.

Matt, I lived and worked in Bosnia for a number of years and I frequently go back. I've also hunted there on a number of occasions. The hogs aren't ferals!!
