No, I have not started using small calibers! This pig came in from the left side of this feeder pen! In the past they always enter from the back right corner. I just happened to scan the pen with my binos and saw him walk in. 375 Ruger, he kicked so much dust up I was not sure he went down or just ran off. Dust settled, dead pig! 100 to 125 lbs boar.

I see the situation, I Do Not see the problem, one shot/one dead oinker! That is the way is supposed to work, isn't it? Even the rocks don't last forever.

I hope that is the exit wound. But if he came in from your left.... Or is that clot and not tissue? Steve "He wins the most, who honour saves. Success is not the test." No such thing as too much gun for hogs. Whatever makes them dead is just right. Well done sir. "For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind..." Hosea 8:7

Correct, no exit wound and too often the blood trail peters out in twenty or so yards leaving you having to track by torn up brush (or by buzzards the next day). "For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind..." Hosea 8:7

I have had clients shoot 130 pound or so boars at just a little over 100 yards, thru the shoulders with a .7mm Rem Mag and there was no exit wound. Luckily the animals dropped on the spot, because there would have been no blood trail to follow. Folks talk about bullet performance and some think a bullet exiting an animal is a failure, but since I killed my first deer 48 years ago, I have been a firm believer in the concept that an animal leaving a blood trail is easier to find than one that isn't, simply because inspite of a persons abilities with their firearm, Not All Shots Result In A DRT! Even the rocks don't last forever.

That is the entrance hole. The exit was a little more forward and down a little. I sit ten foot in the air and this feeder is slightly down hill. I like a bullet back stop when I can! The entrance is usually slightly high. The exit was about the same size with a little more lung tissue. When they come in, they come in to eat! Body is swinging back and forth and going forward! Vacuuming up corn is the object! I have hit boars through the shield with a very lethal big bullet and they never bled a drop. Going to try some Hawk bullets in the 416. Man said they will thump em!
