Blair338/378A Knife for a Lady from Namibia..........
Some photos of a knife I'm having made by Kelly Carlson, for a friend in Namibia.
Engraving is by Tim Adlam and the scales are Blue mammoth ivory....blade is D2.
The elephant engraving has come out beautifully, I think

Verbera!, Iugula!, Iugula!!!

475GuyJeez, I didn't know mammoth ivory could be had in different colors. You learn something new everyday. That's nice.
Lo do they call to me,
They bid me take my place
among them in the Halls of Valhalla,
Where the brave may live forever.

stagmanThat is absolutely gorgeous! Perhaps the prettiest custom knife I've ever seen.
Can you give me a contact for the knifemaker? I've wanted to design an engraving and have a folder made using the warty tusks from one of my own ... an heirloom piece.

Blair338/378Guys,
Thanks for the congrats! Kelly and Tim did all the hard work......
Stagman: Contact for Kelly Carlson is
www.carlsonknives.com or (603)588-2765. He is a full time maker so his turnaround times are good.
kamaatu,
Good guess, but no, it's not for Sonja Kibble...

Mike DID end up with my Blade Tech S30V/carbon fiber, though last year. The skellum

Steve and Dave; thanks guys......
Mammoth is available in a broad spectrum of colors, depends on the minerals in the ground where it has been laying.........I've even seen a piece of green..........blues and greens tend to be the most expensive as they are much rarer.
Verbera!, Iugula!, Iugula!!!

Use Enough GunYes, a very beautiful knife. I love the ele carvings. You're right, blue mammoth ivory is very rare and very expensive. I have one with blue mammoth ivory although not that dark. It also has silver streaks in it. Thanks for sharing with us!

UEG,
As a fellow knife lover, you are more than welcome mate.
Tim Adlam is a very talented engraver and Kelly Carlson is a great knife maker and an artist to boot...........we have something in the works for my next trip to Namibia in 2007...
I'll post up the photos of the knives as they are completed..........
Cheers.
