Saeed,

Congratulations on such a successful safari. Sorry about the lion but as you know better than I they are never a slam dunk.

I'm looking forward to some great hunts in that area as we now have K1, K2 and Mahenge North as one continuos block.

Regards,

Mark

Mark,

Mahenge is a great hunting area, especially for buffalo.

But, something has to be done about the poaching. We have come across a number of elephant bones that have been poached - including one very recently - no more than a couple of weeks before.

Bones of other animals, such are hatrebeasts and wild hogs, were also found by the remains of the poachers camps.

We found the remains of an elephant, with one tusk left, that must have been wounded and lost by poachers - the tusk was about 10 pounds, so there was no question of it was shot by a trophy hunter. By the looks of the tusk, this could have been anytime between 12-24 months ago.

Fish poachers cut one of our lion baits down, and set fire to the surroundings

Saeed,
When you catch your breath let me know when you are ready for a shipment.
Our trip was canceled by the doc due to wife's low blood count. We try again next year.
Glad you are home safe and sound and it is evident you had a great time.
Better tomorrows...

Walter seems to have an irressistable urge to annoy Roy. And every now and then, he succeeds.

We were standing waiting for our trackers to find the tracks of some buffalo we intended to follow, when he looked up, and said "look at that bull on the left! He is HUGE!" while looking up.

Of course, both Roy and Alan looked up. Roy using his binoculars for a clearer view.

Walter snapped this photos!

As you can see, my long experience of being around Walter for so many years, came in handy, as I did not fall for his trick!

Saeed

This is our first year as managers of Mahenge North. Obviously in the past the anti-poaching efforts were not very effective if they existed at all. The plan is for things to get cleaned up there and all our areas to get tweaked. This will take a littel time.

Thanks for your candid observations and I definitely will share those observations with the owners.

Regards,

Mark

Saeed, Thanks for the fantastic adventure. I have just returned and had a chance to read your updates and details of the Safari.

By your announcement of 16 Buff Taken I will be sending our "Prize" to Hog Killer who correctly chose 16 as his winning number. Thank you for allowing us to participate in your Safari with you.
