Did anyone expect anything else?

Two spineless, classless individuals, who only care about themselves!

Morgan is the epitome of what "fake" news is.

Trump is the epitome of a politician who only cares about his Tweets!

I hope both rot in hell!

An American may never import tusks from Zimbabwe again, or at least not for the next 10 years. Assuming a democrat wins back the White House in 2020 and holds it for 2 terms. It would be 2028 before you'd have a republican back in the White House.

I am always amazed at hold strongly people will debate this type of topic without looking at any of the science. The arguments are purely emotion-based with no scientific facts or data.

Based on ZERO factual data, Trump calls elephant hunting a "horror show", and challenges the fact that hunting dollars go to conservation.

My thoughts?

I wonder how much of the fees for hunting permits/fees paid to some of these countries governments/officals actually make it to conservation efforts without being siphoned off? Trump seems to be asking that question too.

It seems that a lot of non-government outfits are the ones doing a lot of the effective anti-poaching and real conservation efforts in Africa.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

It was supposed to quietly slip through. Yet, in spite of being told to stay quiet, they went out and publicized what they had accomplished. While some were trying to get over the problem SCI caused, they sued USFWS. Game over.

I did indeed, Tom, and as much as I could not understand how your political process left you lumbered with two such obviously shitty candidates, I did not envy you your choice. But it's not as if all the signs weren't there. Bit late for Trump voters to be complaining about him being an arsehole. The only glimmer of light on the horizon is that you may have another GOP President before his term is over.

And that is the actual question everyone should be asking of both government entities and operators. And the answer is very close to what Trump supposedly said - I will wait for the actual interview. Maybe the threat of maintaining the ban on imports will get some to change their ways.... maybe not.

But like with everything Trump, I will wait for actions and not words. He makes a lot of threats to push his real agenda.

I believe President Trump was the lessor of two evils. I also do not think anything could have prevented the lifting of the ban from being a popular, political lighting rod.

But for the California wildfire that is the Democratic Party I would have no use for him.

What about all that SCI big money, donor political clout? I am sorry but I have yet to see them win a political battle in my life time.

If Hildebeast was Elected. Stocks and 401 K's would have been down 20%. The Dems would have taken our Firearms and Banned Hunting altogether. The price of Gas would be up 20 or 30%

Since Trump was elected gas prices are down. Stock's and 401 K's are up 35%. We still have our guns and hunting rights. When there is a shooting in the U.S. Trump BLAMES the shooter!!! It looks like a NO BRAINIER to me?

Morgan is the most stupidly rapid anti gun, anti hunting idiot out there.

He takes every opportunity to have a go at us.

He claims to be on first name basis with Trump - in fact, I have seen him say, continuously, that Trump should ban both hunting and more gun laws.

He seems to be getting his wish!

This crap does not surprise me one bit. Long before Trump was elected I pointed out that he is anti-hunting, regardless of the fact that his sons are hunters. Here is an exchange between ledvm and I from November 2015. I just have to repost this because it is so rare that I am correct about anything. In this case I feel like I predicted the future.

Lane,
This is not the first time I have seen you pushing Trump as the answer for hunters.

IIRC, when Trump's sons hit the news for their hunting Donald Trump made every effort to distance himself from hunting. He was in a position to speak positively about hunting/conservation but he selfishly took a position that would serve his own interests and not those of animals, hunters, or his own sons.

Sure, maybe he would be a great boon for hunters.... But I could just as easily see him being swayed by the star power of the antis. I just can't see anyone expecting anything out of this self absorbed weasel.

Actually...I personally saw "a" interview of him speaking about his sons. What you say is entirely incorrect. He said: "while I am not a hunter, my sons enjoy it very much. They are great marksmen as well and are members of the NRA. He went on to joke a bit about that he played golf and they hunted."

It definitely cannot hurt that his sons are avid hunters and riflemen.

I don't share your views of the man...but that is just me. I know some of the people who hunted Eric...they had nothing but good to say about him.

Just my $0.02...but if somebody doesn't jerk a kink in USF&WS's tail soon...its gonna be too far gone. Smiler

The two candidates in the last presidential election are proof that our system is broken. When Donald Trump is the "lesser of two evils"(which is most surely was) it is clear that our system is in trouble.

Let me tell you guys something. First let me say that I am not happy about this at all. But, how many of you know that GWB almost gave us a leopard import suspension. You can check that fact with John Jackson.

The point I am trying to make is this: no other candidate running in the GOP primary (with Cruz being the possible exception) was likely to do us any better.

Big 5 hunting is politically unpopular with Republicans as well.

The Russian witch hunt has just made it worse...especially with them going after Don Jr.

I still believe Zinke will carry the mail in the end.

And, since the Clinton Foundation orchestrated the ivory import suspension...she would have likely given us a permanent ban.

You were very harsh on SCI, and quite rightly so too.

Now the Orange Topped Dickhead is screwing everything up, you are making all the excuses for him!

That does not mean I am going to make excuses. What is the reason for it?

If he acts like an idiot, I will say so. It seems he picks and chooses how he feels
about hunting. I really feel bad for those who hunt and make their living in Africa.

If there is a better alternative?

Of course there isn't, but like you, I'm extremely disappointed in this decision. Frankly, I thought his two sons would provide enough valid reasoning to lift the ban, but I'm betting his leftie daughter and her husband have more influence than the boys do. I am very disappointed.

It is not just the ban remains in place. It is the language President Trump uses in describing hunting of elephants that makes me want to spew him out of my mouth.

He could have articulated a stance that allows for hunting and elephant hunting. However, requiring more data (setting specific goals for funds) from host nations in order to lift the ban.

His language is fine as long as he is attacking the opposing side to some. His language forms opinions.
Do I think the left overplays his language, yes. That does not excuse his use of language.

Do I think he is better than Hilary, absolutely. But that does not change his many and alarming issues.
