I just received my copy of "Lone Star Outdoor News." DSC has a one page ad for their new "Summer Expo & Gala,' July 17-19 in Grapevine. I wonder how many of the overseas outfitters are going to give up a week in the middle of their hunting season, to fly back to the USA for a show?

My guess is that they are trying to compete with the TTHA extravaganza events .

I think Larry might be right about trying to compete with TTHA, they have a show shortly after this in Houston. As for outfitters leaving in the middle of hunting season to go to a DSC show so soon after the main DSC show was a flop…I don’t think many will take that chance. I know none of the outfitters that I regularly communicate with are attending. I haven’t seen anything reports of number of exhibitors or any auction items for this event, that’s where the real money comes from.

do know some exhibitors are decreasing the number of booths they will have next year, two exhibitors that had 6-8 booths apiece are going down to 1-2 booths. that should allow some "new" guys to exhibit.

New guys......jerky, turky, and CUTCO.....great..... I won't go to Atlanta. As much as I dislike SCI Nashville is a great city!

None of the African outfitters are going to come in July. DSC needs to get it's act together and hold their show in Texas. Otherwise, everyone is just going to go to Nashville. That is what I predicted last year and is what happened and it's what will happen next year.

Yeah, they are probably trying to compete with TTHA, but I'm thinking they are also trying to raise money to buyout the Atlanta disaster.

This may be old news, but I recently heard that DSC was moving to Houston in 2028.

Personally, unless there are dramatic leadership and direction changes at DSC, I’m afraid there won’t be much to move to Houston in 2028, if that is the “plan”.

Karl, I used to receive the e mails and updates.

That has all changed in the past 2 years.

I will have to think about renewing in a few years.

The New DSC Management Members are all travelling all over the world.

Some are in Turkey, some are in Iran, some are in a little known Pakistani village well known for its artisans making copies of anything.

Apparently the management has decided on a new direction for the club.

Mainly supplying SASHES!

From ULTRA LAXURIOUS ones made of SILK to an incredible new designs from the masters of this craft in Iran.

The Pakistani made copies are the cheapos for the likes of African outfitters and professional hunters! clap

Clueless again Saeed. You should stick to what you know about....

DSC was a great organization. They collectively misstepped and are trying to correct. The correction will be difficult as it is easier to stay out of a mess than get out of a mess. Ask your friends with Hamas.

DSC will "right the ship". It will take time and will require cash and resolve. But, they will get it done. Too many good people involved not to succeed.

As to sashes, who cares? You seem to focus on how people dress than substance, again. Awards of any kind are just that - awards. You and the non-US world think the world cup is a big deal. Ok. I don't. I would not walk across the street to see a soccer match. Just my taste and choice. The non-US world feels the same about football. So what??? Same for awards in the various organizations from the military to beauty pageants to LIV golf to whatever. Who cares???

Why trash an organization that is trying to help/solve/fund AFrica and other wildlife issues? I don't get it....

Is there anything on this earth that you do not hate, criticize or have to be the smartest person in the room about????

Grow up....or at least wake up....

“I KNOW NOTHING!”

That is what my friend Miguel says to his bosses wife in Faulty Towers!

And Basil Faulty has more brains working when he is stone cold drunk than all the current nitwits running DSC!

Sure, DSC WAS great.

Until they took over!

You do yourself a disservice by your uninformed rants and negative comments.
You are very correct in your admitting you "know nothing". It is evident.

I joined DSC as life member years ago after our first event in Dallas . Today , I would not join.

I find the sashes to be ridiculous and embarrassing to me as a member and a hunter .

Some need to understand that Saeed likes to stir the pot sometimes. Keep that in mind .

I think the ship can be righted, just not with those currently at the helm. I'm told the new CEO was brought to the table by one of those that is/was part of the problem, if true, there will likely be no big change forthcoming.
Also, the annual meeting will be held next month, board nominations will be going to voting members pretty soon and it will be very telling if those directors whose term expires next month are nominated once again, or are elected as an officer. If that is the case I would expect little if any return to the successful club of recent years past. Time will certainly tell!

I only bring certain facts to the open.

Some of these facts certain members would rather not see being posted!

First time I saw the sashes being worn I thought I was looking at the male version of KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS!

All we need now certain members of this board to have BBLs! rotflmo

DSC can, and must, be salvaged. It broke away from SCI for a reason. Awards to hunters for killing animals is just wrong.

We hunt to hunt. Not for glory or awards, but for the experience. When it becomes a competition between hunters, the entire experience is diminshed. The competition should be between you and the animal. I could care less what other people think.

They day they made into a competition, corruption started.

A whole industry was created, based in South Africa, to cater for these non hunters with big money!

DSC apparently wants to go that way now!

SCI have their sick CIRCLES.

DSC want to upstage them with SILK SASHES! rotflmo

I won’t be voting but I will surely post the nominees whom I think would do a good job (if any), hopefully, there will be a couple. Results will be really interesting.

That’s a chapter failure. They are given access to the database and they send out notifications.

You are too humble, my friend.

You PAY for a site on which people are free to demean you.

You may be unique on the internet.

I do not nor will I ever belong to the DSC.

They are a secessionist organization that has become worse than what they ostensibly protested against.

I don't want to have to go down south and deal with that again. Big Grin

Sadly, I'm afraid your hopes might not be enough. If one is so inclined, and a member, one can read minutes from board meetings, I know from experience that not all topics are clearly memorialized in minutes, but some are telling. There are board minutes missing, which I have asked for, but bet I don't receive. Here is a snippet from board meeting...

"CEO Coery Mason advised that he has enjoyed the last seven years of heading DSC, and all of the accomplishments that have occurred for DSC during that time, but being uncertain of the future of DSC has submitted his letter of recognition"

To one that has given thousands of hours as a volunteer and many thousands of hard earned dollars supporting the club, this says a lot.

It was reported and discussed at the time. There were numerous reports of a de facto “coup” in the boardroom. Numerous board members resigned. The incoming President resigned. The story I heard was a small group of very wealthy members wanted the organization to return to its good old boy roots, focused on awards versus the direction the direction the organization was headed in. While Atlanta may have been part of what was going on, my sense is that it was a much more fundamental disagreement on the future of the organization.

Resignation.
Presumably a typo during transcription.…they likely use an AI Notetaker like Firefly.

Hah! No thanks!
I think it’ll take a huge change in leadership’s way of thinking and a direction change. It’s pretty apparent to most that the current direction isn’t working too well.
