I would like to have a trillion dollar note too, just for historical purposes. Cool What's it's worth in USD? Probably 0 or close to it, since a couple of weeks ago it might have bought 4-6 loaves of bread, if even that. The latest news article today says that Morgan is going to join the new coalition government in Feb. Maybe things will begin to gradually change.

Well that is good news,

If Mugabe has faith in the US Dollar then we are looking good for the future. (-:

But seriously it is hard to contemplate the state of the Zim's situation, how long can it go on. Is some other country keeping it afloat or if not what is the magic formulae

Cheers, Peter

YEA, People's Republic of China. Bob has made a deal for mineral and timber rights to the PRC in exchange for " future considerations".

The Chinese are active all over Africa. They are cutting deals in the DRC for minerals. After all, they have most of the dollars the Arabs don't have.

Tit for tat. Since the US politicians seem to be taking a lesson from the Robert Mugabe School of Economics why not?

Yes It does seem that the Chinese and to a lesser extent the Russins are getting their finger into the AFRICAN PIE.

Now a short history lesson, (3+ decades ago) the Chinese and Russians with sattelite state Cuba muscled into Africa backing the terrorist insurgent wars which raged mainly in Namibia Angola Rhodesia Mozambique and to a lesser low level in Zambia and SA.

NOW the USA at that time did not want a bar of Africa, in fact they enabled sanctions which wore down the minority governments whom held power at that time.

Now with the current situation WHY PRAY TELL is the USA not making big inroads into moving into to Africa more to offset the Chinese and Russian incursions. I believe it is a BIG MISTAKE if the USA sits back and ignores Africa as it has done up till now, it will come back to haunt them in time.

Yes they have AFRICOM and and a small military force in East Africa BUT what about the strategic minerals and the likes that Africa has, would it not make sence for USA to have a strong Africa investment and cooperation policy

Regards, Peter

Headed for the political forum.
While I detest the average political conversation I must note that the US is once again sending an entire country into the hands of our political/economic enemies. It is quite easy to see that nearly everything- and it ain't much folks- that is for sale in Zimbabwe is coming from Korea and China; much as it is in the US.
They are taking a firm hold on the economics of the country because the US and Britain are unable or unwilling to exercise greater diplomatic control of the country. By taking a backseat to the development of a new government and the infrastructure of the country we have essentially handed over the future generations of the Zimbabwe people into the hands of the Chinese and Koreans.

To paraphrase a well known Zim PH and HO "They(government) are beginning to see that they need us". Sounds stupid but the point is that Zim in this man's opinion is showing a slight positive glimmer.
