If you ever doubted what a buffalo could do if things went wrong have a look at the video below. These are domestic bulls (I know, fighting bulls but still domestic) and not really pressing home the kill. If a domestic animal can toss you like a dish rag just think of a animal that is bigger and really pissed. http://www.youtube.com/watch_p...2h-WhhqFjv4&vq=small Ken DRSS, PP Chapter Life NRA Life SCI Life DSC

I fully agree that bovines, either domestic or wild, can be extremely dangerous. Anyone who has ever been tossed across a corral when a bull happened to swing his head the wrong direction can attest to this. On average, however, a Cape Buffalo bull will be somewhat smaller than most common domestic breeds of bulls (specialty breeds like fighters excepted). In fact, a large eland bull will outweigh a Cape Buff bull; that doesn't make the Buffalo any less dangerous, just smaller than most people believe them to be.

No question about it; all bovine's can be dangerous. I once had a run in with our normally friendly Angus bull. On this day, he decided I needed eliminating and damned if he didn't try his best...I was just fast enough to dodge through the trees and across the creek to the safety of home...I was 12. I gave him a bb in the nut sack the next day for his trouble. And before I start a fight over that action, my bb gun didn't have the power to penetrate, just made him become the "cow that jumped over the moon!" Interesting comment; I have heard more people in Alaska are killed by dogs than any other animal.

Observation: These bulls seem to be slower than buffalo and the people running from them are nowhere near as fast as I would be!

I have been working with and around American Bison for almost 20 years, and even though they have the potential to be dangerous and I have been in some really tight spots a few times with bull Bison, I have never real felt all that threatened. I cannot say the same for domestic cattle. I have been in a copuple of pretty intense fights over they years with both cows and bulls of domestic cattle, Even the rocks don't last forever.

You’re preaching to the choir here! I don’t know anybody, who has ever seen a Cape buffalo in action that would deny their ability to perform a gutectomy on you in short order given the chance. I was raised on a cattle ranch in the Hill country of Texas, and I learned at a very young age to constantly be aware of the signs cattle give when they have mayhem on his/her mind! …………………………………………………………………………………………............................ 1930s vintage. ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

The first guy is a true professional smoker; he did not lose his cigarette. Those bulls had some jumping skills both up and down. I like the one that cleared off the roof. I have been at rodeos and seen bulls jump the fence out of the arena, has anyone ever seen a cape buff jump? It is amazing what some cultures think is a good idea, I cannot see any positive outcome of jumping in front of a fighting bull. The men on the rope were not trying very hard to get the bull off people who were down for the count. Mark

It is a festival and they are all drunk. To those posters expressing a negative/ anti view. I have been to bull fights and bull running and neither of them did it for me personally. I respect their traditions though - it would be hypocritical of me otherwise as I hate people trying to restrict or ban the traditions that I enjoy.

That explains a lot. Although my idea of fun after a few drinks does not involve large animals with horns and a attitude. Ken DRSS, PP Chapter Life NRA Life SCI Life DSC

Think how much different that first video would have been had the tips of ALL of those bulls horns not been capped with those blunt silver caps. Drunk fools and capped horns equals some broken ribs and a few concussions. Uncapped these idiots would be dead! "The difference between adventure and disaster is preparation." Most mexican/spainish fighting bulls will weight between 1,100 and 1,200 pounds and they are very quick and athletic

Absolute agreement. Live and let live (or die as the case may be). Although my father may be prevailed upon to tell the story of the night when he and HIS father (my grandfather) were treed for 4 hours by their docile Jersey bull. From the story, I suspect it was a terminator sent by Skynet to ensure I would not be born. -- Promise me, when I die, don't let my wife sell my guns for what I told I her I paid for them.
