Lion or Cape Buffalo/Leopard Hunt?

YOUR COMMENTS ARE APPRECIATED....If you had the chance to do 1 and 1 only hunt in Africa, would it be for the lion (male) or a Buffalo/Leopard hunt with various plains game?MIGHTY LIONCAPE BUFFALO WITH LEOPARDREBELS

You will need bait for your lion, and you get four good baits out of a buffalo, 5 from a hippo, etc......

Only on rare occasions does one actually HUNT lion and leopard.

The majority are shot on baits.

Buffalo, on the other hand, is what gets your adrenalin going.

I will take mbogo over a cat any day.

I am going to spend 21 days in Tanzania in 2009 and will be giving it a go for elephant, buffalo, leopard and lion if the chance arises. Going to give it my best as this will be my one shot a four of the big five. We only live once and it might as well be in our dreams alive.

A walk and stalk lion like we do in western Zim (and also Botswana and some parts of Namibia) is the greatest hunt in the world.

Saeed, although I see your point, several of the most exciting moments I have had have been sneaking in in absolute darkness to the blind. If lions and hyenas are fighting over the bait, and running about close to the blind, or if your leopard blind requires you to pass by hippos on each side in the dark; or knowing that the cat is there,but its too dark to see him--to me, these times can be as tense and exciting as tracking a buff in the thick stuff.

You can always track them off the bait, several of our hunters have done that in Tanzania. It is hard tracking in the selous, but it can and has been done. Anyway its an option, but not an easy or particularly successful one.

I like tracking anything from rabbits in the snow to Buffalo in the high grass, I hate blinds, the bugs eat you up, I'm too hyper to sit, I don't even like a deer stand, not to say I havn't done it many times and may do it again, but its not my druthers by a long shot,I guess that is why I love hunting Buffalo above all else. In fact I don't really like to hunt anything else these days. I may shoot an elk or deer, mostly for the meat every year, if I draw in the So. Hills behind my house,because I like being in those beatiful mountains of Southern Idaho, particularly horseback, and I like the idea of being able to shoot a deer if I take a notion. I hunt for the monster until the last day, then if I have not met with success, I shoot a spike or fork horn. I sure do pass on a lot of 4x4s with 24 to 29 inch spreads and even a few in the 30 inch catagory, looking for one over 35 inches...Seen a few but they were too smart for me.

I love hunting all of the DG, but I have to say that nothing but nothing beats Buffalo for pure fun, excitement and adrenelin..........

I I knew I had one last day on God's earth, I wouldn't choose to spend it with family or friends etc....... I'd choose to spend it hunting one last Buffalo.

The most non-event I have had hunting was Buffalo, Lion is great but I have not been lucky. If you like hunting on foot and excitement then you really should try Elephant.

Spring

Most lion hunts involve the taking of lots of bait, which usually includes a buffalo or two. As a result, a lion hunt usually means a lion/buff hunt. As a result, your question becomes would you rather go on a lion or a leopard hunt since buff would be on both. In that case, I would much rather hunt lion, especially since the long term opportunities to do so are in question and it's a thrill that one day may not be an option, unlike leopards which are very plentiful.
