Exactly my initial thoughts when I picked up the rifle, but I can assure you they have this thing figured out (I thought the guy who owned the gun was messing with me, I was honestly a little scared to shoot it!). I don't know if it's just the muzzle break or the Kevlar stock has something to do with it, but it seriously kicked like a 270 or a 300. It comes with a hefty price tag, but it's an amazing rifle. Look them up:

For CAR. Afterall, you walk and carry the gun all day, day after day, and you shoot it only once or twice every few days.

It DOES have a removable brake, a necessary evil for a gun of that weight.

I should also add that I am familiar with these rifles and I've shot them in 375 and 416. I have first hand reports that a 338 Ultra in the same make is very tolerable as far as recoil.

Glad to see you all supporting the huntng industry and some of you trying to accomplish that suppoort all by yourselves.

Personally I put down money on a big croc and PG with Terry Anders in Zim plus a lion/leopard with Muchinga in Zambia. Andrew Baldry already has my money for short safari in the Kafue following the cats. I also bought a copy of Beasts of Legend. I'm way tapped out for '12.

bought a custom knife, also bought a bounch of beretta gear.....

Talked to the people at hartmann and weiss, and have finally decided the gun i want, .375 H&H too bad its going to take 18 to 24 months, you really have to handle their bolt actions to apreciate the quality...

After seeing some of the above posts, I don't feel so bad on my own attempt to stimulate the economy!

First off, I really thought the show was great & enjoyed the new venue (Vegas)!

I put money down (with a couple of friends) on two safaris:

May 2013 - Leopard/Plains game with Zambezi Hunters, (thanks for the recommendation Will!)
plus I got a hat!

April 2014 - Leopard/Buff/Plains game with Brent Hein @ Bubye Conservancy ( have hunted with
Brent before in 2005, great guy)

We also might go with David Perez to Los Chanares in March 2013, it will
be my second trip there & I agree with Larry, it's unbelievable! He's holding the dates for us
while I get a group together.

Picked up a couple of gun sleeves from Red Oxx, really well made.

Lastly, I ordered a 30-06 single shot rifle from Glenn at Soroka. Just have to work out the
details (finish, engraving,...).
I love the Farquharson action & his rifles are really works of art.
I will probably post more about this on the "Single Shot Rifles" section.

Overall, a great trip. Jim

Also confirmed a double Black Bear hunt this spring with Flying B Ranch in Idaho.

Can't even dream of some of the replies I've seen here, but I did buy a lot of videos and books. Was able to have all the books plus some I brought with me signed. Bought a black bear/fishing trip with Ken Gangler in far Northern Manitoba. Also talked with Aaron about mule deer this fall. Hope I can make this hunt happen. Spoke with Tony and Eli Grimmett about antelope this fall also. I LOVE hunting antelope with this father/son team - no one else compares when it comes to antelope. Can't wait to hear about these wonderful hunts you have all planned!

Will - Forgot to mention that I have two of Lex's rifles and I can assure you, that you will be very pleased. I have a 300 RUM in the 5.5 lb rifle and a 338 RUM in a 7 lb rifle that are both WAY better than me. I have one action left and I think it will be headed south to Lex for a 416. You are gonna love carrying that rifle in the mountains!

After consultation with Mr. Safari-lawyer, I've reserved a date for a Trophy Bull Elephant hunt.
Will, thank you for all your insight. I will also get to shoot a couple of doves in Argentina next year with a group of people from Zimbabwe and and a wonderful couple from Alabama.
For only being at the show for one day, I had a great time and now have a couple of hunts to look forward to.
It was also great to see and handle Jonny Hulme's 458 Lott "plains game" rifle. Eeker

The only easy day is yesterday!

This MUST be the only forum on planet Earth where TWO people report purchasing Hartmann & Weiss bolt guns.

AR is great place for many reasons. I'm pretty sure that jealousy is not one of them.

Damn.
