Well the final answer is in....and I should say up-front the family is from Alabama lol so it's not my fault.

Dad liked Jock, the 2 boys liked Shalka Zulu, Mom wanted a bird and didn't care as long as someone picked up after him and the deciding vote was made by their 4-year old little sister who simply calls him "Bubba" and Bubba he is. clap

Hi
Why not simply call him SIMBA which is easy for dogs to hear (dogs hear better S in their name)

I've had two german hunting terriers.

The first was named "Zulu" when he got killed I replaced him with "Kubi" short for Mbwa Kubwa Sana.

I've got a bitch coming early next year her name will be "Gwenya" short for N'gwenya Or crocodile.

I'm also considering N'yoka (snake)

Surestrike: What's a "german hunting terrier look like?" We had to put our beloved JRT Maggie down a few months ago and the wife & kids say they couldn't stand another JRT as it would remind them Doesn't make snese to me, but you know women & logic. Anyhow, been thinking about a fox terrier like my PH has and I'm just curious as to waht your dog looks like. jorge

I just got a Jack Russell puppy for a gift. I have not had a dog since the Mid-1980's that dog saw me thru 1964 till she died. So what I did was named my new dog, after a famous Jack Russell, he's Eddie. The dog is a lot smarter than me.

Jorge,

He looks just like this. Big Grin

He is a fantasic dog. he is all MEAN Mo Fo when hunting hogs and sweet lap dog when at home with mama and the kids. A really neat dog.

And yes he runs down any size hog and bays them up until I get there to finish the fight with either knife spear or rifle.

Kubi has been hunting hogs for two years now and has bayed, caught, and or blood trailed to a find on over 35 hogs to date. He is one bad little dude.

Jorge,

One word of advice if I may sir. The German hunting terrier AKA Jadgt Terrier. Is a pure hunting breed and they do need alot of space and a job or they'll get pretty rambuncious.

They need a place to hunt. They'll hunt anything you want them to. They are used as squirel dogs, coon dogs, fox hounds, lion & bear dogs, they are meant to be a hog dog. But they do need a job no matter what it is.

if you are looking for a pure companion this may not be the best choice. But being a JRT man you probably already know all about hunting terriers .. Big Grin

Terriers are vicious defending their territory. Your in the dog house now!

Thanks for the offer. Now how costly is it to import a pair of dogs through quarantine ......

Yolanda.

or

Shaquisha,

two African names (at least over here!).

My next gun dog will be called "Medic".

Think about it, the ducks fly over, the guns goes off, and after the shots die down, someone is shouting "MEDIC....MEDIC...!!"

Hey Jorge, read about you losing your JRT, sorry, I hate losing a good dog. I am a huge fan fo Airedales, on my 2nd. If you like terriers & want attitude like a JRT, look inot the Irish Terrier. It may get me off my Airedales some day. beer
