SGraves155It's real. There have been several postings on this forum in the past couple of months regarding this. The story was in one of the African Hunting Magazines in the past year or so. Location is south shore of Cahora Bassa Lake on the Zambezi River in western Mozambique.

ShowbartBuzz Charlton was the PH and this was one of his tracker's sons. He's going to address it in his upcoming DVD. This is what I took from the original post on this here.

MJinesHere is the link to the prior thread. Buzz supplied some of the details on the incident but was not the PH.

470EDDYYes, this is true, not an electronic fabrication. Actually, this occurred in Carel Maartens, Chawalo Safari concession in Mozambique. Buzz and Carel work closely together and these pictures actually were in an article in African Hunter (#1 of 2006) talking about the fact that some 54 locals are taken in this concession annually and that 15 foot Crocs are taken on a regualr basis!! I booked my hunt with Carel (based on that article) and hunted in September...FANTASTIC hunt, loaded with Hippo and Crocs...my largest of 2 Croc was 14'1" with about a foot to foot and a half chomped off the tail...and half the lower jaw gone as well!! Great place to hunt with either of these excellent PH's. Great Bushbuck and Grysbok there as well.

470EDDYPost Script-that is Carel Maartens in the photograph with his Swedish client Herman who shot the croc. Buzz had actually brought in the author of the article in African Hunter, but was NOT the PH on the hunt...they just came in as it was unfolding...however, that said, Buzz does work closely with Carel on hunts in the area. You may contact Carel Maartens at: southernsafaris@amosconnect.com. Carel operates Chawalo Safaris in Mozambique and Southern Safaris in South Africa with his father.
