I thought I should share this very recent photo with those on AR that enjoy hunting buffalo up close and personal. The buffalo is from Tanzania. The width for those that like to know about such things is 43.5 inches. The great double rifles are a HEYM .577 NE and Holland & Holland .577 NE. The PH probably does not require an introduction. The hunter gave permission to share this image but does not want his name shared. Those of you that know him please respect his wishes and not post his name in this thread. I hope you enjoy the picture!

I would say yes, but many on here will say it was actually shot by MS and his Holland after it was shot in the nads with a .22, which induced a charge.

Great job guys on a beautiful bull.

I always love the AR crowd. Generally predictable but always a great bunch of men and women! I have to agree with Biebs…if I may take the liberty to paraphrase his sentiments…this is a buffalo of a hunting lifetime for most folks.

Shawn,

My comments, and I believe Steve's, were said in jest. I appreciate what Mr. Sullivan does.

You are correct, it is a buffalo of a lifetime.

Indeed a very nice buffalo, mature but not old and a high scorer for the gong-hunters.

The terrain looks like the Mbarangandu and if it is, would mean the Selous can still produce some surprisingly good mbogo.

Going by the lengths of the curls and drops like those, he could score as high as 105/110.

Yes, Shawn, Mike was shooting the L&A. I wish I had seen that one before Jim W. Very accurate and very well built. Mike has a .500 H&H Royal bpe and a box lock Jeffery 8, both of which came from my safe. He is starting out well in the world of double rifles and today I showed him a 12 and a 10 double rifles he may develop an interest in (I'm thinning the herd).
Great pics of Mark. Tell me, would it be a fair guess to state Mark has shot more buff over 40 inches in the last 20 years than any other PH?
Just wonderin.'

I saw you eyeing that Cafe Diablo my friend. Or was it you watching Joyce work the room after dinner?

Sorry we can't make the double rifle shoot my friend. Rather fill the freezer than punch holes in paper.

Please tell Rob that Joyce will miss shooting all his ammo and making his barrels glow red.

That is a very interesting question Cal. Mark's clients consistently kill really great trophies. It's fair to say that Mark produces some of the very best buffalo, lions, and leopards wherever he hunts in Tanzania. He does quite well when elephant are on the list as well. Mark works extremely hard to get his clients in front of really great animals. I think some of the images I post from time to time for the folks on AR show that exceptional quality as well.

Best always,
Shawn

I actually prefer that buffalo then the wider one with the extreme droop. Add three or four inches in width and that would be my dream buffalo.

Great pair of buff, anyway you slice it IMO.

Not sure why you would refer to Mark's client as a clown :0( or Mark for that matter but whatever makes you feel good I suppose. Mark is shooting the HEYM .577 and his client is shooting the Holland & Holland .577 NE.

Sorry! was typing on my phone and just noticed it typed clown not client. HaHa. Fixed it now!

Thank goodness Mac...you scared me, I thought you were going to the dark side for a minute there!

Shawn

The "Client" must not have good service this time. Last hunt he did with Mark I was getting quite a few day to day texts and photos of kills with the terminal performance on the loads I sent him with.
