I saw this lion at a waterhole with another male last July when I was hunting the BVC. The other male ran until he was out of sight when we came up on them, but this one hung around long enough for me to snap a few photos of him. I used a black and white filter that Anton Dahlgren told me about and I think the photos turned out nicely.

Great photo and just amazing how different he looks at different angles. The first I would put him as 4 years and 7 months and the second 5 and six months, give or take a week or so.

Ha ! Not sure about the ages, but I figured between 4 and 5 years old when I was looking at him. I agree though, he looks like a different cat at the different angles.

I like it a lot. It's less of a "push a button and you're done" than I thought it would be, but it's pretty easy to mess around with and get the desired effect.

The RSA outfitters who specialize in canned lions are a dime a dozen; their brochures give you the opportunity to choose your lion in accordance to the size of your wallet and that is a fact.

It is also a fact that the outfitter is going to make sure you get your lion and it should be obvious that the safest method to guarantee payment and not lose the lion to the next door neighbour is to slip him a "Mickey Finn".
