Will be attending and looking for a hotel within walking distance to Market Hall. I see the Hilton Anatole is the host hotel and DSC rates are $158 per night. Did anyone reserve a block of rooms at a good rate?
Thanks in advance for your input.

The Renaissance is literally across the parking lot from the show. The hotel is a little spendy but the restaurants and breakfast buffet are excellent plus the bar puts out generous drinks with quick service.

I'm sure he will be along to respond soon but just in case it takes a while -

JudgeG usually gets a block of rooms at the Comfort Inn. It is not walking distance but I don't think that it is hard to find a ride to the convention. It is less costly than the convention hotels.

I don't think the Judge will go back to the Comfort Inn. My recommendation is to spend the money and stay at one of the two hotels mentioned. I'll be surprised if there are atill room available though. jorge

Jorge, I think I waited until December to book at the Anatol and had no problem getting a room at the DSC rate. Have you had a different experience? Last year was my first at DSC show and thought that it was normal to book so late without a problem. I may book a little earlier this year

I think there were some issues at teh Comfort Inn, but nothing too horendous that I recall. I know Judge had no hot water on Sunday, IIRC. They didn't have a reservation for me when I got there, but I had all my paperwork in order and they found us a room. Overall I thought a pretty good experience. I'm not opposed to staying there again, but wouldn't mind the Anatole either just to be in the middle of it. Though I'll probably fly in Saturday morning instead of Fri night.

Count Brett and I in for the Comfort Inn in January (enough ins?). We had a great time and the place was close enough to our other gadabouts in the evening. I promise to bring bullets and cartridges using Macifej's and Gerard's bullets and our .395 rounds.

A pacemaker? Didn't he post a photo a while ago about his "distractions" of late? I wonder if that hasn't something to do with it.
I hope you are doing well my friend.

JudgeG shouldn't hold the Comfort Inn accountable for that. It think it was his girlfriend that arranged for the cold shower for him. By Sunday morning she might had had more than she could handle from the Judge. Wink

I have also made my reservations at the Comfort Inn - same as the last few years - but my rate is $99. for the first two nights, & $129. for the second two nights. I just spoke with Habib, & he told me that if we can get a committment for 10 rooms, he'll honor the lower rates as in years past. So, can we get committments from 8 other guys for a room at the Comfort Inn ? If so, post a response here or E-Mail me at "joycebeller@msn.com", & I'll give Habib a call and commit. I think our rate will be well less than the ones I currently have. Thanks, FRANK

Fellow AR members, yes we are looking for a new place to have a get together...Mike Jines and I worked to coordinate the event... Prices and all inclusive.. AT the dinner, I asked for the man incharge to give me the bill after dinner started. I counted all in attendence and collected money from all... When the bill arrived I almost had a heart attack.. They over billed us by $400.00Was there almost an hour after all had returned to hotels to get it sorted out...
I said we had x amount for dinner at this price.. It still came over what was collected...
Fellow AR member Forrest paid the remaining bill and I collected some more at the party to defray Forrest's generosity...
So we are looking for a place within 5 miles of Market Center and I was thinking of finger food appetizers so all can get to talk to all in attendence, more socializing...
Dougaboy did offer his help to see if we can find a place... We are looking and any and all who has an idea of where to meet...

Mike

Here's the latest on the rooms at the Comfort Inn for the DSC show in January: the best rate that the Comfort Inn will give us is $89.99 for Wednesday & Thursday nights (Jan. 7&8) and $109.99 for Friday & Saturday nights (Jan. 9&10); this does not include the applicable tax. This is still a better rate than normal for their rooms. For everyone who wants a room, please call 214-461-2677 & reserve your room, telling them you want the rate for the AR group attending the DSC show. I HAVE NOT reserved all the rooms for everyone, because that's what got the Judge in a mess last year - some folks backed out late in the game leaving the Judge holding the proverbial bag. So, you MUST call & reserve your own rooms if you want the discounted rate. If you need my hekp, you may call me at 304-545-0215 or E-Mail me at "joycebeller@msn.com". I'll do whatever I can to help ..... thanks, FRANK.
