We will be heading to the airport in a couple of hours. Our excitement is such one would be hard to understand that we have been through this so many times, and we still feel so excited about going on safari.

A friend keeps saying "simple things please simple minds" clap

He is not a hunter, so I suppose that is why he is unable to see it like we do.

VIDEOS:

1. Drone footage of our camp

2. Drone footage of our camp and early evening campfire

3. Walter being himself

4. Walter's BBQ

5. Crocs feeding on a hippo which apparently died from fighting with another hippo

6. Loading a buffalo into our truck

7. A hippo and some crocs. The white square you see in the water was another hippo we had placed as croc bait.

8. Drone following Maktoum and Walter's truck

9. Drone flying over countryside and gorges

10. Drone flying by our camp

11. Drone flying over our truck as we came back after shooting a leopard

Thank you all for your good wishes, much appreciated, especially as Walter is involved.

We are at the camp, barely made it before sundown to land.

Had a bit of fun at Dubai airport.

Walter had requested a wheelchair, and Emirates duly provided him with one.

We had breakfast at the First Class Lounge, and then they came to take us to the plane.

Apparently they have a special bus that carries invalids - it has three wheelchairs!!

It also has a self propelled platform that lifts the passengers up to the plane, to save them being carried up the stairs.

We all had a ride with Walter - each of us sitting in a wheelchair, and we were taken directly to the plane, and boarded it that way.

Walter "you see what kind of experiences I bring to you two"

We have pictures, and I will try to upload them tomorrow.

Wake up is at 5, and we all look forward to a good start to our hunt.

The hyenas are running around camp laughing!

We are in the Emirates First Class Lounge. Maktoum is trying to explain a few things to Walter. Not sure that he is getting anywhere!

We asked for a wheel chair for Walter, as he just came out of hospital after an operation. Here you see all of us sitting in a special vehicle Emirates has to transport invalids! It was fantastic, we were the last to board the plane. The van drives to the aircraft, and a lift transported us up to the door of the plane!

Our plane had to stay the night, so this a precaution against hyena's eating the tires.

Walter is beginning his normal instructions for Pete, who is going to be his PH.

Thorn branches and toilet paper on the plane's tires to stop the hyenas eating them clap

Both Maktoum and myself shot an impala each.

We had a long day of chasing buffalo tracks, but never saw any.

We tried to have a go at some wildebeests as well, but, sadly they never gave us a chance.

We shot an impala on the way back to camp.

Walter went with Maktoum, and had a great day too.

We had buffalo steaks for dinner.

Beats any 5-star hotel any day.

I will try processing some photos and posting them.

Wonderfull start on the adventure. Don't tell Walter, but they do make a motorized wheelchair with tracks to ride on crosscountry, he'll want one for next year.

Great start to the 2016 story !

Was thinking the same thing - an electric wheelchair with chunky wheels for Walter to hunt in next year !

Wishing you all a great safari !

We went early to go and chase some dugga boys in some inaccessible place.

We spent all morning playing hide and seek with them, in some horrible thickets one cannot see 20 feet ahead of him in some places.

It is an area surrounded by some rocky hills, and we alternated from being up one of the hills or down some gully where no one can see any thing.

And to add to our misery, we got what by buffalo beans.

For those who are unaware of what this is, they are certain fruits with tiny hairs that float down and land on you as you pass underneath the tree.

As soon as they land on you, they start some sort of chemical reaction in your body, and you start scratching like mad!

This lasts about 30 minutes, with sheer misery!

Maktoum also had a hard day chasing buffalo, but neither of us managed to get a shot.

Sucks to hear about the buffalo beans. I imagine thorn scratches are less annoying!!

Impala are like whitetail deer to me. No matter how many I shoot, I always want to shoot more!!
