Holy Roller?

Lighten up, you won't go to hell for using a single shot as a DGR. In fact it is a sign of spiritual enlightenment and great faith. Just be sure to take a PH along with you, or a Newish Rabbi. thumb

RIP,

I am sorry to report that I have seen a recently released video on al Jazeera TV of a PUSHERITE being be-headed by one of the more spiritually enlightened shoot-ites who adhere to the mauser sect.

After that last comment, I think its time to use the neutron bombs on certain middle eastern capitols. Nuke 'em til they glow!

Andy,
I was scarred for life by one viewing of a similar video. I feel your pain.

prof242,
I fear that the option you suggest may come to pass. This may be social Darwinism. This mess may be simply a sign of overpopulation of the planet, like AIDS. If rats are too crowded in a cage, they start buggering each other. It may simply be time for depopulating certain problem areas.

How many neutron bombs will be required to wipe Iran clean, for starters?

The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Boom stick,
One does not carry his reloads between his ass cheeks!

One simply carries his next three cartridges in a wrist band carrier (on the offhand wrist), and more on the buttstock carrier.

That is quicker than swapping rifles with a gunbearer!

After the shot, reload in a flash, automatically, without taking the rifle down from the shoulder.

Rimmed cartridges like the 450 NE in a Ruger No.1 are kosher.

yeah its down to skill and being so cool under preasure that your piss is colder than beer in a frosty mug. i guess also using loads that dont have too much recoil as to recover quickly.

anyone here stopped a charge with a single shot and got off more than one good shot???

Rabbi Rip has hunted water buffalo on a game farm with a Ruger No.1. I feared no evil as I had Vip as backup to Rip. He is my spiritual advisor, and he approved of the Ruger No.1.

Remember John, aka 500 Nitro, who has hunted elephant and cape buffalo with a Ruger No.1 in 500 NE. He is righteous with those GSC FN's! Never a problem with hand feeding FN's in a Ruger No.1!

Brother RIP, like many of my Protestant Bretheren, thou hast mis-ordered the numeration of the most blessed ordinances of the LORD! Eeker Big Grin

1. V. Thou shalt assure that thy rifle feeds and ejects flawlessly--and it's postscript: Therefore, knowing the fear of the LORD--IX. Thou shalt allow no rebated rim to pollute thy rifle.

2. X. Thou shalt place thy bullet well, else all is for naught.

3. The Sabbath: (II. Thou shalt use a caliber of .375 or larger, except on Sunday, when 9.3 mm (.366 caliber) is permitted.

4. I. Thou shalt use flat nose, monometal-copper solids only, and never be tempted by a round nose, whether monometal brass or steel FMJ.

5. IV. Thou shalt choose a bullet weight closest to 0.300 sectional density as possible.

6. VI. Thy bullet velocity at impact shall be 2100 to 2700 fps, and as fast as thy rifle and thyself can handle, within this range.

7. VII. Thou shalt use 10" or 12" twist rate for thy barrel rifling, for all calibers, as either rate will do.

8. VIII. Thou shalt handload all thy ammunition, with new or once fired brass, and cycle it through thy action before the hunt.

9. III. Thou shalt not use a caliber greater than .510, as foolishly heavy cartridges and their rifles produce diminishing effectiveness for any hunter on foot.

10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's .404 Jeffery, nor his wife, nor his man servant or maid servant, nor any trophy thy neighbor has killed.

Thus saith the LORD!

Oh forgive my trespasses, St. Whelen,
for I am just a weary traveller,
on a journey, Nay, a Quest!
to find the Judges' Liquor Cabinet,
and cigars...
so I can work up the courage...
to pluck the Large Ring...
from the Flaming Furnaces of Oberndorf...
AND THENCE RULE THE WORLD!!!!!
MWAAAH HAH HAH HA!!!!

Oooooooh, my precious SquareBridge. Don't listen to the nasty Remingtonses

RIP, I suppose this image could always be taken as the nº 0 commandment.

0.- Thou shalt never get close to dangerous game without enough gun on hand.

Best regards,

"Seven Deadly DGR Sins"
or Cardinal NUT Sins,
or Capital NUT Vices:

1. Pride ... as in too proud to let the PH shoot your wounded DG ... Pride goeth before the fall.

2. Greed ... as in wanting much more than .300 SD ... No more than one cup size over .300 SD is allowed, or Momma didn't breast feed you long enough, eh?

3. Lust ... as in the perverted desire to use a Blaser ... Damnation to hell will surely follow this unforgivable act of moral depravity.

4. Envy ... as in Bore Envy ... About how big the other fellow's rifle is: Don't worry, be happy! And be accurate, and fast!

5. Gluttony ... as in wanting more than 2700 fps impact velocity ... Gluttony for punishment on both ends of the DG Rifle.

6. Wrath ... as in anger at the "Africa Time" in the black hole of RSA postal service delivering GSC bullets ... Patience good NUT, patience. Good things come to those who wait.

7. Sloth ... as in too lazy to carry your own gun ... A tenderfoot boy scout knows better! Not being prepared instantly for a charge has been the death of many a NUT wannabe.

Saints and sinners, your experience in refining these would be helpful in outlining the Capital NUT Vices as a warning for NUTs. Thank you. ZZZ

As for wrath, I confess that I shot a yearling whitetail last season only because I was angry at having gut-shot a beautiful buck...which I did not recover! Mad

V. "Thou shalt assure that thy rifle feeds and ejects flawlessly."

Having seen this commandment, I am forced to give you the confessions of a Rem. 700 owner. I wish I could say that my .416 Rem 700 is completely fit for dangerous game. I have used it for many years. Obviously I have a vested interest in being totally sold on my weapon. Unfortunately I can't say that. The dirty secret is that the feed mechanism has always been inadequate, and is downright dangerous when standing in front of dangerous game. There. The ten commandments has forced me to come clean and admit the dirty truth. Excuse me seek appropriate public penance. Yours, Bill

Joaquin,

Glad you didn't quit. That was worth the effort.

Excellent! Cro-Magnon Crocodile Hunting 101.

The DIVINE LESSON that made Homo sapiens sapiens truly sapient!

The teacher there may have been a distant relative of Moses, Rabbi Roc. thumb

Bill,
You are forgiven. Go and sin no more. Rebarrel that M700 to a varmint caliber. Prairie dogs are easy to stop in a charge. You can just step on them and squish them while trying to clear your jam.

Oops! it is good that friarmeier quoted the original plea. I edited the wrong one. We are still studying on the Capital NUT Vices.
