No, that is not the truth. That is a false assumption on the part of anyone that thinks that way. Those people are highly motivated and that is what makes them such a powerful enemy. Those folks are educated and motivated enough to take advantage of the ammunition we give them. Assuming such things as these people being of low esteem only give folks a false sense of being superior to them, and nothing could be farther from the truth. The majority of these folks are college educated, upper middle income or upper income individuals that have the time and social status and connections to pursue the windmills they choose to tilt at. Agreed. I find that they can be put into two main classes: Those who are intelligent and well educated but have a deep need to feel important. They meet that need by doing what brings them the most praise and esteem from their circle of peers. They are social heroes in their own minds. They tend to be self righteous and have very big egos. They must belittle those who disagree with them to maintain their illusion of superiority. They will refuse to consider your arguments and you will never convince them they are wrong. Being wrong is unacceptable to their self-view of importance and worth. These people are the one you see leading the movements, speaking from the podiums, and financing the cause. and Those who are of weak character, cannot determine the direction of their own life, and must have others to follow. They are like sheep that need to be part of the herd. They enjoy being identified as one of the herd and they will adopt whatever style, manner, and talk is exhibited by the herd. They, too, will refuse to consider your arguments. This is because they are incapable of making free decisions and, therefore, must hold to the herd argument. Talking points and slogans become their only message. But, if you can get them away from the influence of the herd for long enough to show them how secure you are in your beliefs, they will join with you and adopt your message. These are the people you see holding the signs, throwing the rocks, and blocking the streets. | |||

Unfortunately, much of what is listed above applies to hunters as well. The problem is, as a group, hunters do not have the so-called "sheep" class that you listed. We all base our ideas/thoughts/concepts from personal experiences, and from my personal experience and the socio-economic circle I deal with/live in, I have not run across any anti-hunters in the middle income/lower middle income/poor groups. After reading the inflammatory rhetoric the Mrs. Burn brings to the party, I have decided the best thing to do is hit the 'ignore' button. I have learned, in my 40 years, that it is not wise to bandy words with an idiot, and trying to discuss anything along these lines with a radical anti-hunter is about as effective as headbutting a brick wall. Her presence only incites an argument, and although I respect her right to be present, I for one shall not waste valuable mental energy on someone who's agenda it is to ruin the comradery we intend to create by having this forum.
