Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

SGraves155Remember the old movie "Sands of the Kalahari"?
Baboons will gladly take over if allowed to do so. They have evil in 'em.

MJinesI am reading Alexander Lake's book, Killers in Africa, at the moment. He talks at length about baboons and their aggression and how challenging they can be to hunt. He describes a troop of baboons jumping on a leopard and tearing the leopard to bits.

465H&HDon't forget to read the part where he says the only safe way to stop a charging elephant is to shoot in the roof of the mouth with a 303 soft point. A soild in the same place won't kill him.

Or the part where he says he had to shoot a baboon dog at something like 700 yards with a 303, and then when he got to it he found the bullet hit a few inches lower than he had aimed!

Stephen PalosSounds like Mr. Lake was an interesting fellow. He certainly must have had a fine crop of "Green Gunston" at his disposal to smoke....

Mean looking canines! With teeth like that you would think they were exclusive carnivores.
I hunt, not to kill, but in order not to have played golf....
