If this is correct then even the mildly hopped up loads for the Marlin lever action is too much for the new double. They run about 40 KSI.

Were these barrels very thin????? Interesting pressure statement as it just might pertain to the burst strength of the barrels and not the action. The same diameter barrels in .30-06 would have heavier walls but not significantly enough to allow for the 60KSI cartridge.......something is screwy here!!!

Since the increased wall thickness for the .30-06 is only about .015 larger then one must conclude (assuming.....and this is a big one) that the same action is used for both and there fore the barrel ODs are the same that the 33 KSI max note is actually for the action and this makes it nothing but a shotgun action on a double rifle.

Now this too just don't add up!!!!! Unless of course there's two different sizes of action. WTF!!!

At this stage I wouldn't get too excited about stepping up the performance of the .45-70 or rechambering it.....A whole lot has to be learned before that happens.
