Hi All,

I'm looking for a cameraman to film our hunt in April in RSA. It will be a dedicated wing shooting hunt with the focus on some high volume doves, although I might shoot some plains game if time allows.

I don't need any editing done as we have our own guys here that will do that for us, and split the footage between various uses.

It will be a 7 day hunt and then another 7-14 day hunt in August that will also go into the pot. Along with anything else that comes up this year.

Who have you used and what was the finished product like? This will be the first hunt I video so I'm keen to hear anyone's thoughts.

Rgds,
Kiri

Thanks mate but after your attempts to film the duck shooting at Ampton & enduring 19 minutes of footage with you fiddling with your zip while showing us a close up of your beer gut I think I will pass.

Try Osprey filming company, Zig Macintosh, he posts here often, they run a very professional operation.

I'll second this. They did all the filming for our television show and did absolutely fantastic work. Plus, they are generally cheaper than using a camera man from the US but there is no compromise in the quality of work they do. I can send you a DVD of their work to show you what I am talking about, you won't be disappointed.

Their email address is studio@ospreyfilming.com
and the website is http://ospreyfilming.com/.

Check them out.

Kiri - Not a big deal but you mentioned you didn't need editing included, but then asked what others finished product looked like with the people that they used? Confused Kinda hard to compare apples and oranges?

Safari-Hunt seems to get rave reviews on here!!

Hi Larry,

Getting a look at others footage just helps me get an idea for the quality of the camera work.

I have seen some of the footage where when the shot is fired the camera seems to jump and the reaction of the animal is half lost. It's not quite the same with a wing shoot but at least gives an indication of skill.

See you in Reno next week.
K

BTW Thanks to everyone for the PM's. I'll have a look through this week.

Rgds,
Kiri

Ditto Osprey and see if you can get lauri alanthwaite. He is in SA and has more experience than a lot of PHs. Great guy to have in camp and a superb cameraman.

I can highly recommend Justin Drainer. Justin is the primary cameraman for Charlton McCallum and has filmed all four of my safaris in Zim. Go to You Tube and do a search for HunterJines. There are four clips there that Justin filmed. He is good company in camp, fearless in standing his ground and a damn fine cameraman. Yes, he wears Chuck Taylor tennis shoes, but his virtues are worth overlooking that little vice. I am sure you can reach him through Buzz or Myles (buzzandmyles@cmsafaris.com). Do a search under the Africa Hunt Reports section and you will find alot of hunters singing Justin's praises. Good fellow.

Wayne has been doing our hunts for many years.

He is a great guy, does a great job, fun to have around, but sadly he has one very bad habit we have not been able to break him off it.

He is STILL nice to Walter, even after all these years.

A hugely talented, knowledgable, pleasant, good-hearted, funny, and altogether fine member of any safari team. As for his Chucks, I'm afraid we tarnished them with blood last October. Hope they cleaned up...

I am sure Justin is as you say with regard to "standing his ground" and am only taking this oppertunity to show you an example of the work Laurie at Osprey is capable of. The leopard was coming right at him...nice pan eh?

That is the part I do not like about commercial films.

Far too much music and talking.

I prefer to leave the sound as as, and have nothing added to it later.
