Larry why wouldn't he want his pic posted with once in 10 lifetimes Elephant?

It think that Thys has taken several 100lb'ers

That's probably a 50+ year old animal

Amazing

I don't know why. John is the one who asked me to not post it.

Thys has indeed took many large jumbo. His hunts are pretty pricey now.

I think this is going to get more and more common in coming years. Hunters are going to start voting with their feet..."Fine, if I can't bring my trophies to the US, I will invest abroad!" Surprised it has not happened sooner and on a wider scale!

No pic; it didn't happen. coffee

I would think that at least one pic exists without the hunter in it, yes? So what's the problem? No shot with the Ele and PH either? Confused

It's the hunter's elephant and if he doesn't want pics publicized, why do you have a problem with that?

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have absolutely NO problem with the hunter not posting a pic.

I do have a problem with others railing about what a great trophy has been taken and even possessing or having seen the pics and then not showing them here.

Hope that answers your inquiry.

BTW, I choose not to post pics of my world record animals (or any of others unless by specific request, with permission granted), although they are viewable in the record book.

I hunted there last nov. I know their plan and what I saw. Great people, great camp and I think it is now the best block in all of Africa for a big tusker.

It wouldn't surprise me if the hunter doesn't want the publicity and the attendant nasty e-mails and phone calls from the anti-hunters that the guy who bought the black rhino permit received.

I think Gonarezhou is another one with best possibilities for big tuskers
I hope I'll hear 120 and some taken before I kick the bucket

Why do folk feel the need to say; "I know something you don't know"!!

We all aren't as "connected" as some. This forum has always been of guys willing to share stuff. If you aren't able to share it, perhaps just sit on your hands?

Some of you guys don't have enough to do. The following is a text I just got from the guy who sent me the picture:
---------------------------------------------
Back from Virgin Islands- saw the post about the photo of the 100 pounder- it's not that I don't want to share it, but I wanted to speak with Thys first as it wasn't my client. Would not be right of me to post something without at least hearing from PH or from client. Those guys don't understand that? I just thought it was common courtesy.
-----------------------------------------------

I happen to agree with him.

Hi Larry,
My statement was aimed at the OP. My point is, what good is it to even start a thread and state "I have a picture of something that no one else can see".

I agree it should not he posted. But I also think the thread should have been posted when and if permission had been granted.

Steve

Well, horse manure. The OP was spreading the news that a 100 pounder had been taken. Just because some spoiled grown children don't like that they can't have a pic.....too frigging bad.

Seems odd to get all pissy because someone lacks permission to post a photo. I want people to post where the big ones are taken regardless of whether there is a pic or not! By the same token, just like secrets...ultimately the reality is that two people can hide the image of a downed 100 pounder as long as one of them is dead. If a guy doesn't want his 100 pounder on the internet, he had best make sure the PH has no copies of the pictures....or at least make sure that no one except the PH has pictures. It's gonna leak out no matter what.
