My wife and I have for years wanted to attend the DSC convention in Dallas. It has never worked out and we are thinking that 2019 will be the year. We have looked over the website information and still have some questions.

If we stay in one of the event hotels downtown, do the shuttles do a timely job of pickup and drop off?

Are there eating places in that area?

Should we choose to fly into DFW or Love?

We did not see any hotels that offer airport transportation, would we have to depend on cabs?

If we decided to stay in a different area of the city and rent a car, can anyone comment on the parking situation at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

Please fill us in an any information that you feel is appropriate that has not been mentioned. It is so hard to plan when there are lots of unknowns.

Thanks for any help you can provide either as a response here or by PM.

Love Field would be closer to the convention. I have had little trouble parking at the show, but I do not usually go on Saturday.

Love Field is closer . However, there are fewer flight options.

There are numerous restaurants. Finding a place to eat is not difficult.

Never used a shuttle either to the show or the airport. No idea. I imagine one would have to name the specific hotel. I travel extensively for business. Most major hotels do have airport shuttle service. These tend to limit ones ability to depart when desired. Does Dallas? I would think so but do not know for a fact.

Shuttles run to and from the KB Centre servicing several of the partner hotels. I'm not sure of the schedule but have seen these signposted on placards where folks embark and disembark at the KB Centre.
There is usually some shuttle services info on the DSC website so a look around there might turn up useful info.
Enjoy the show. My first time there was this year. DSC does a great job. Really enjoyed it.

You can Uber around downtown Dallas (where the convention is) really easy.

Love field is pretty darn close and would be another easy Uber ride.

As others have said, plenty of restaurants near the convention center.

I always stay at the Adolphus and walk, unless it's raining or snowing. Then I use the hotel shuttle, a cab, or Uber. Between the dinners and the eating places in Dallas, I've never had an issue with meals, except when I stayed at the Omni, which is not an option for you at this point (no loss). Not many eating places in the complex and not a neighborhood you want to walk at night with your wife. So that necessitates a cab and they back up. Long wait. I walk, but I carry.

Don't mean to give you the wrong idea. It's a great show and well worth attending. They do a great job. And the area is totally safe in daylight, but to get to the Adolphus from the convention center, you have to walk right by the Greyhound bus station. I just wouldn't stay in the Omni (you can't at his point). I think the parking's pretty good, but I've never done that.

I like the Adolphus, but I said that.

Dallas is a great Uber city, particularly if you are in and around downtown.

Definitely Love Field. We rode the train from there to our hotel. We always walk to the convention- I believe we normally stay at the Homewood. It’s just a 5 minute walk to show (shuttle buses also run to hotel)

From DFW , you can take the DART train to West End station and change there to the Convention Center for $5 or under round trip. From Love you have to take a bus to the DART station.

The DSC hotels to have a shuttle to the convention, but run at fixed times.

Downtown hotels do not have shuttles to the Airport. That's either Taxi, Shared Shuttle, Uber/Lyft, DART or rental car.

We used the DART train last year and it was great. Fly into Love it is a lot closer and you can, depending on your hotel choice, use the DART train from the airport.

There are not a lot of places to eat right in downtown or around the convention center, especially later at night.

Love is 15 minutes and DFW is 25 minutes. Pick the cheapest flights.

I would Uber if you’re comfortable with that, or rent a car. Parking is easy if you get there early, but it’s around $20 per day.

I would choose flights based on price, and a hotel anywhere along highway I35 or 114 between Irving and downtown Dallas, or in uptown Dallas (just north of downtown). If you can Uber, that will be cheaper than renting a car and parking.

We appreciate all of the very helpful responses. They will cut down on the trial and error usually associated with a first time venture.

Since my wife and I are both early risers, plus we will be in a different time zone from Georgia, will breakfast be served anywhere at the convention?

Getting an early start will allow us to see more.

If you really want to cover the convention quickly, be there thursday. Friday, it picks up but is not too bad. Saturday is packed. All the hotels have continental breakfast complimentary. I never noticed if the food vendors set up for breakfast, but lunch is typically overpriced like every other venue that I have attended. DSC is one helluva great show, hope you can make it!

If you enter the KBH Convention Centre at the main ground level front entrance ( not sure if this is the same as Lobby level ) and head left towards the base of the escalators you walk through a sort of public area. On the left are some shops including a small eatery which I visited several times ( can't remember the name ). They serve very good, reasonably priced eat in or takeaway food / coffee and open early. Staff are really friendly. Further along just past the escalator base is a restaurant but I don't know how early it opens. A few other eateries are scattered around within the Centre but I don't know if any start early. As far as I could see the only food within the Convention was from the various on-site vendors. I didn't find anything there I really wanted to buy apart from coffee.
