I’m needing help on how to post photos using an iPhone X or an iPad. Thanks for the information.

Posting photos is extremely time consuming. Other forums allow you to upload photos from your library. Not with AR. Here you must get an URL in order to upload photos. I gave it up for good.

Thanks for the information I am computer illiterate. How do you get a url?

From a Image Hosting site like Imgur. It is simple. Open a free account. Upload a JPEG image. Copy the BBCODE (URL link for posting on a forum) and paste it in your post. It is best to use a resized image of 800x600.

I think imgur.com will work from the iPad. I’m using the Safari browser, NOT the app. I logged into my imgur account, uploaded a photo, then used the drop down menu in the upper left hand corner to choose BBcode. It showed the link, and I copied it, then pasted it into this post. I did the photo bucket and when it went sideways I gave up No reason to be simpler then that in today’s technological advances AR is great site but like everything else, it has a weak link and that’s that, otherwise no complaints from me as I simply don’t post pics anymore " Until the day breaks and the nights shadows flee away " Big ivory for my pillow and 2.5% of Neanderthal DNA flowing thru my veins. I don't yet see a way to adjust the resolution displayed, like you can when using imgur from a regular PC browser. So, I guess you may need an app to reduce the image size first. Otherwise you may get oversized photos like the ones I've just posted. Hey Bud, When you create a message, click the little picture icon in the upper tool bar and paste the URL in it then click Ok. It will insert the right code for you.

Use The BBCODE copy it and then you can paste it anywhere in your text and that is where the picture will be displayed. Resize the image to 800x600 before loading it into Imgur. If you have Paint it is simple to resize an image.

Bud, If you're trying to do this with a computer and web browser, you might take a look at this thread: How to post photos with imgur.com There's a link to a video showing how it's done. If you're trying to do it from an iPad or phone, it can sort of be done, but it's a bit tedious, IMO, because you need to separately resize the photo. Bud you just posted the Image Link which is the wrong one. You have to post The BBC Code.

I think you are on your profile page and they will not show up that way. Log in to your account. In the upper right there is a small arrow at the end of your user name.Open the drop down Menu and click on Images. You should see all your images. Click on the one you want to post and see if all the Links show? If that does not work see if you have a tab called View image info or a drop down arrow somewhere around your image. Select generate URL.

Posting photos from a computer, and a URL, is very easy. Trouble starts when people try doing it from an iphone or ipad.

Bud, I'm not using an iPhone, so my first thought was that you are putting in the URL as a URL and not as an image. There are two buttons circled here - the one on the left is the URL button; the one on the right is the image button: This is pasted in as a URL: https://i.imgur.com/TEKHx8Il.jpg This is pasted in as an image: Having said all that and looking a bit more, I think there may be a more likely explanation for the problem. If you look at Slider's post above, the URL that you have is an "image link" - it will take you to the imgur page that holds the photo, NOT to the photo directly. The form of the URL is different. This is an image link: https://imgur.com/TEKHx8I (goes to the imgur page) This is a direct link: https://i.imgur.com/TEKHx8Il.jpg (goes to the photo if you paste it in with the image button). If the iPhone interface only gives you the image link, you could edit it, but, as Saaed says "the trouble starts". (The editing would involve adding "i." before "imgur.com" and ".jpg" at the end.) I hope this helps. There you go. You just need to resize them. 800x600 works well.

Just select the "large thumbnail" size below the BBCode and you'll get a properly sized picture. Tom Z NRA Life Member
