There is no doubt a lot of bickering and fighting here on AR. Often it is not in public. It bothers some. I get it. On the other hand, a hell of a lot of good goes on. Often this is not in public either. I also get to meet a lot of really good people solely as a result of AR. Let me relate a few things from the recent past. I was recently in Alaska for a sheep hunt. I had to overnight in Anchorage. A member offered to let me stay with them. While that was very generous and I appreciated it, I declined due to the timing of my flight the next day as well as the 4 hour time difference. He also carted me around Anchorage to get some things I needed. I went to dinner with a group of AR members there in Anchorage. While I knew all of these people, with me living if FL, I do not get to see them often. My wife wonders how I know people every where I go. It is quite simple. It is almost always due to AR. Well, I had a successful sheep hunt. I flew out to Anchorage. I met a gentleman from Kuwait who happens to be an AR member. I would never have met this man if it were not for AR. My guide blew his knee out. He is from Australia. There he is injured in Alaska. What do I do? I e mail one of my Alaska friends and ask if they know any knee surgeons in Anchorage. Well, he does. It is not just any old knee surgeon but the knee surgeon for the US Olympic ski team. This doctor sees my guide. He happens to be a hunter. He flatly refused to charge him! This all is the result of AR contacts. Another example is just today. I am leaving Friday. I had some issues with my 500 NE. A member I do not even know has offered me the use of his 500 NE. Another member went to great lengths to help me diagnose the problem. Remember, a hell of a lot of good goes on here. It may not always be apparent.

That's great Larry. Major reason I hang around too, even though I don't hunt OS like you guys do. Saubier.com is another great site, for small cal guys mostly but, everyone is fine folks. I've seen quite a few times where you've been the host for such folks over the years. Remember, payback isn't always hell. Good post, great people everywhere. This will always be the high bar of good on AR for me. The depth of caring made a huge difference for my wife at a difficult time. We will spend the rest of our lives paying it forward. Larry, It may be something in the air in Alaska - This August in Anchorage, my wife and I had morning coffee with an AR member and then he drove us from the hotel to the rallying point for the Princess Glacier Cruise. Most folks on AR are easy to get along with if an effort is made; civil agreements and disagreements are a pert of life.. Larry, I agree. Have met some great people through AR, even Biebs. Also the wealth of experience and education here has added a lot to my and Mrs Blacktailer's hunting experiences. I find a lot of the good stuff happens in private...the bad stuff typically in public. It's a great resource though with lots of publicly quiet but very helpful hunters!

Met a lot of great people here. 1) Had lunch with Larry Shores and his lovely wife when they visited St. Louis for an ACDC concert. 2) Had extensive discussions with Larry Sellers prior to my Mozambique hunt in 2014. Larry was also in camp for the duration of the hunt. 3) Dutch44 lives near me and we have met on several occasions for drinks and even a sporting clays event. Lots of good times with my "AR Family"

Although I rarely post here, I have been lurking since I was just a kid. This site has been one of the things that show me the true comradery that exists among hunters. Now that I'm out of school and being a "real adult" I hope to start participating with the big boys and posting up good reports. Africa is on the 5 year horizon, and I cannot wait. The best part is, I know that when I am looking for advice on everything from flights to shoelaces for that hunt (let alone which outfitter to use) I know I'm in good hands asking here.

Most people I have been fortunate enough to communicate with, and meet, from AR, are the salt of the earth. How many groups of people tied together by the internet are willing to reimburse a deposit or pay for a fellow hunter with cancer to go on a hunting trip. (I don't believe Carolinasman accepted the offer but it was made) http://forums.accuratereloadin...588/m/2481027181/p/1 Or will travel from the Free State to O.R. Tambo like Andrew McLaren did, two days in a row to help bail out a hunter he doesn't know from being stranded due to miscommunication between a hunter and his outfitter. http://forums.accuratereloadin...043/m/7571008291/p/1 Or will raise money to help the Stu Taylor's of the world, which has happened numerous times. I am honored to be a small part of such a gracious community. My hat is off to all of you.

Made some good friends here on AR. There are always going to be rotten apples in any barrel but this has been a place where good people have joined in our sport of hunting and the outdoors. I appreciate very much what Saeed allows us to enjoy without payment, without conditions and without exception. Well said Larry, hopefully we will hunt those Snow geese in the near future. For all the pissin' and moaning' AR is head and shoulders above the rest. On African Hunting.com I mentioned AR in a post and the moderator kept the post but deleted AR. I thought that childish. Cal PS. I hope Saeed or the moderator here does not remove African Hunting.com from my post. Cal, You should know better than that! I support any website that caters for hunters and shooters, I just wish we had more. You might remember a few years ago someone came over here to tell us about their new website. I did not delete his announcement, but wished them luck. He did not return the favor, turned quite nasty. If I recall, you were one of the members who were not too impressed with his behavior.

This is the only site that I participate in, even though I have checked out others. Through AR, my wife and I met Frostbit and his lovely wife. We have been honored to have them stay with us a couple of times on their travels and they gave us great advice about Royal Kafue and Andrew, with whom we have hunted twice now. So thank you AR and Jim & Joyce! We are indebted to both.

I agree completely, there will always be discussions and they may get a bit heated but we are all adults and can keep it civil and it all works out at the end. I agree AR is the best hunting site, and has given the chance to a guy like me to get to know the culture, experiences and opinions of fellow hunters around the world, through this forum I got to know Larry Sellers which was my first client and who I consider a good friend and I will be forever thankful to AR for that.

Cal, I was bullied into changing my name from my business name to IanB on AfricaHunting unless I agreed to sponsor the site. I declined and dont post there anymore. In 2003, thirteen years ago wife, kid, and I were off to SA. We all wanted to take a gun. I asked if anyone had a tuff pack I could borrow so we could do so. In led than am hour it was a done deal. Several times since I have lent my tuff pack so someone else did not have to buy one. Several times since AR has come through. I hope I have done my share!
