Import of Trophys to Houston, Texas
Are there any import brokers ( I guess thats the term) in the Houston, Texas area that you could recomend for shipping trophys from SA. And does anyone have recommendations for a tannery in the same area? By trophys I mean cured hides and capes.

Thanks

I use ABX Logistics to clear my trophies. I'm in Australia at the moment, but you should be able to look them up.

Hunter Formerly Known As Texas Hunter and I both used ABX. Our trophies are still being cleared for final shipment through to Brush Country Taxidermy. But so far so good . . .

I too used ABX logistics for multiple trips/shipments. Never any problems.

B&B Taxidermy after that for the tanning.

I vote also for ABX. I've had 2 shipments this year and both came through without any problems.

Howdy,
All above are correct. ABX is a good broker to use here in Houston. You will want to Contact them at 281-449-0892 and ask to speak with Lynnete Lily. She will get you taken care of. For services after that I would recomend Tri-state Taxidermy 713-465-7388. Good luck.

Another vote for Lynette at ABX. She/they did a great job for me a couple of years ago.

ABX will use Conroe Taxidermy. The Taxidermy is next door, I believe, to Texas Best Stretch Tannery.

Coppersmith now has an office in Houston and are clearing my tusks through to Brush Country. They have handled several safaris for me and have always done a good job.

As far as tanning leather, not what the taxidermist will do for your mounts, Oasis in RSA has a fine reputation and they are doing my elephant and ostrich hide.

I have used ABX in Houston and Dallas. I will continue to use them.

Mike and I have used both Coppersmith and ABX. I was, by coincidence, notified by ABX today that my trophies from Tanzania had cleared and were on their way to Brush Country Taxidermy.

Any of yall pick up your packages from ABX directly and then take them to your taxidermist? Does this save any money? How difficult is it to get them from ABX?
Thanks

I do not believe that you can pick them up directly. My understanding is that they have to be sent to a licensed or approved tannery so that they can be processed to ensure that no insects, etc. are in the shipment.
