I am considering a lion hunt as my final African hunt. Anyone have a clue which African country has the greatest chance of successful importation of a trophy?

Ask John Jackson but with the new case by case determination I would think the individual operator conservation record would be more important than the country.

Case by case basis, but the BVC and several areas in Zambia seem to get them through. They just issued a Tanzania permit recently, apparently the first for the country sundae 2016 and hopefully not the last.

Certainly do the lion sooner rather than later.

Bubye/Lemco for sure. Lions are doing very well on the property. We were there 2 years ago and had lions roaring in our Nengo camp every single night and were often spotted roaming while buffalo hunting. I have hunted there twice with PH Andy Hunter and Mark Bristow. Expensive but a great opportunity for a beautiful trophy.

I am not sure I would want to import a lion trophy today. The reason is obvious.

Yes. I get into town(population 2000) about once week. A tank of gas for my truck lasts about a month. Nearest neighbor is a mile away.

As far as getting it imported, +1 to contacting John Jackson of CF.

Where to hunt is a different matter.

Why the change in attidude re taxidermy? You were one of the big proponents of just pictures, at least until recently.

A lion is the only animal I would bring home. I don’t know where I would put it, though. Something else would have to go.

My Zambia outfitter will put in writing that if you don't get a shot at a mature lion, you can come back free. He hasn't failed on a lion in over 10 years. I don't know anyone else that will put that in writing for a wild lion or leopard. Let me know if I can help.
