I don't know, that bird eating a mosquito was pretty exquisite.

Sure brings back memories of 2 years ago don't it?

Certainly does Don. I can sometimes work out the location of some of the pictures by the back ground. Check out the wound on the hippo top right!

Nice buff Walter tu2

had lions eating at our bait, so set another one close by under a biltong tree.

Went to look at it yesterday afternoon, and found a four year old lion lying under the tree where we wanted to put the blind.

We drove right next to him, but he would not budge, just stayed there looking at us from a few yards. He must have eaten quite a bit.

We parked the truck between him and where we wanted to put the blind, and proceeded to do that. Again, he did not seem to be too bothered with us.

We took some video and photos of him - sadly not very clear as he was in a thicket.

We decided to sit in the blind, and Alan and me remained there until after sun set.

Two lionesses came to feed, and our young male remained hidden in the grass.

We could hear another one making all sorts of noises from the grass - we think this is the older male we are after.

Sun went down, and no sign of him.

It is 3:30 right now, and we are planning to go and sit in the blind this morning and see what happens.

Shot a zebra yesterday morning.

An interesting thing happened the other day.

We followed a herd of buffalo for a while, and caught them passing a clear area going into a very thick bush.

I shot at an old bull walking away at about 100 yards. The bullet hit him in back of the rip cage, going through to break the shoulder of the opposite side and went out.

He hobbled a few yards and stopped, and I shot him again and he dropped.

We found the first bullet lying on the ground 10 yards away from him!!

All our hats are designed by Hessa, and she makes a special one for Walter rotflmo

Walter shot a wildebeest today.

We went to our lion blind, and found the young male lying next to our blind.

He got up and walked leisurely as we approached in the truck, but was back within minutes after the truck had left.

He lay down right next to our blind, purring as he breathed.

Then he got up and joined a lioness about 15 yards from us, and started mating.

We think he is about 4 years old, and being a dominant male, might have scared the older one away.

Big male lion purring against the wall of your blind!
Hair-raising AND funny-ironic as hell!
The lion is either a comedian or Walterable.

This was the easiest lion to shoot.

I was signaling to Alan to get his hands under the blind and pull his tail! Alan just smiled.

He then got up, and walked a few yards ahead of the blind, and stood broadside! I could have put a bullet into his neck and he would not know what had happened.

Just came back to camp for lunch, after shooting a kudu.

Tony,

Yesterday we drove to that same look out.

And on the way we found a very Walterable kongoni, which I shot.

Looked from that vantage point and saw nothing.

We decided to walk into those valleys below.

Starter at 10, and did not stop until 3:30, following a herd of buffalo which we managed to catch up with.

But, in that thicket one could never see where the mature bull is.

We gave up and started walking back to the truck. Saw a good reedbuck and shot him.

Then went back to the truck.

Had lunch at 4, then drove to camp.

A nice cold drink and shower was very refreshing.

At 5:30 Alan's comes along and says "the buffalo have crossed the river over there, would you like to go shoot one?"

A quick change of clothes and off we went.

Managed to shoot one just before sun down.

Back to camp by 7:30 after loading the buffalo whole into the truck.

Had a great buffalo steak dinner prepared by Rene to perfection.

Today is our last hunting day - or rather half day, as we hunt until lunch time, then have the shooting contest in the afternoon.

Today Walter decided to stay in camp and get ready to leave.

We went out and shot a waterbuck.

In the afternoon we had our annual shooting contest.

When that finished we had 5 rounds of ammo left, which we wanted to shoot.

On the mountain side close by there was a white rock, and I said we should try to hit it free hand.

I fired a shot and hit it.

Handed the rifle to Walter, who took his glasses off and touched one off!

He said "OUCH"!

And suddenly we could see blood pouring down his face - he got hit by the scope, cutting his nose and forehead!

Of course everyone was laughing so much.

He proceeded to present the prizes to the winners, being his usual self!

Thank you Saeed for sharing your incredible adventure and stunning photos as it all happens. You really do take us along on safari with you.

Age and health catches up on us all eventually but my heartfelt wish is that our dear Walter can make another trip to Africa. Like most here I only know him through the stories, pictures and videos you share but a safari in Africa without Walter would be missing so much.

I wish him all good health and look forward to enjoying more of his hilarious antics while on safari.
