A good friend of mine told me about a hunt he once did in Namibia he was hunting Dik Dik. They were there for almost a month, He told me that dispite the time that he and his friend spent hunting the elusive little buck, they think they saw one. He also said that there is no way that someone is able to hunt such a quick and elusive little thing with a bow, not only that he said "to hunt a dik dik you need a bloody automatic shotgun" perhaps. Has anyone ever shot a Dik dik with a bow? and how did you do the hunt?

Of the 6 varieties/species of dik dik, Stev Kobrine has 2 and Archie Nesbitt has 1. Three have never been entered in the SCI Trophy Books as archery kills.

Rich - What an awesome trophy, congrats to the lucky hunter. If and when Archie removes that horseshoe from his posterior, I would like to borrow it! PS - Anyone know if a kafue lechwe (free range) has been taken with a bow? Seems I heard no one has accomplished that feat. If I am not mistaken, Gary Bogner has shot one in Namibia

We came upon some while hanging baits south of Etosha. I'm sure we could have killed one with a rock. Maybe because we weren't hunting them. But I have been told by others who live in Namibia that they are not really very skittish, and are too easy to hunt. Steve "He wins the most, who honour saves. Success is not the test." Steve Kobrine (of course!), Gary Bogner and Ricardo Logaria all have their Kafue Flats Lechwes in the Archery Trophy Book. I assume they are all free range (?).

I am not 100% sure, but I believe that Ricardo Longoria took a Kirk's Dik Dik with us in Tanzania with his bow in 2007. I am 100% certain that he did take a leopard, 3 buffalo and around 12 other animals with his bow. I think he told me that one of his Buffalo would be the new #1 with a bow.
