Hi Guys,
We have set up a shop in Sedona AZ and are considering making a genuine Farquharson styled under lever, trigger guard very similar to what is used on my Soroka rifles, for Ruger No1's.

We will also be able to supply with this a stock that is basically a pattern of my single shot stock in any grade of wood you like for Grade 3 Turkish to the best you can get.

This will get rid of the rather agricultural square fronted trigger guard with the hollowed out under lever. I am thinking this might be some way to giving the average guy a significant aesthetic upgrade to his Ruger No1 without having to rob a bank to do it.

If the quality was acceptable would you be happy with hand filed and finished cast parts or would you want machined billet?

Lastly, or would you prefer a H&H Woodward Patent under lever and trigger guard look?

Any feed back appreciated, TIA
Glenn Soroka.

Yes, do need photos. Sounds like just the thing for my #1.

Sounds interesting, and I have no issue with properly cast parts, but as others have requested, pictures, or at least drawings would be helpful in evaluating the question.

These would be " investment cast" a very high quality casting and capable of being almost any alloy you want.
Casting a part shaped like a trigger guard makes good sense. It's only a modern method of the casting of trigger guards that was used over 200 years ago !! Big Grin

Unfortunately there are no pictures of made parts as this time as there will be quite a bit of work before the parts would be available, cad modelling, prototyping etc.
Just wanted to gauge interest before undertaking the work. Maybe all but the fussiest are happy with the guard and underlever the way they are. Obviously there is the old cost versus demand ratio to be considered.

Anyway what would you prefer Gibbs styled trigger guard or the more conventional H&H Woodward patent style guard and under lever?

Cheers

Great idea! Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

To answer your questions: I'd prefer the Gibbs, and since Rugers are made from investment castings, I'm sure no one would mind you saving money by casting the proposed under levers in the same manner!

Agree with Loud'n'boomer. Drawings would be helpful. I this something that would retrofit on a #3 also.

do you plan on making any of the single shot rifles that were discussed here a couple years ago?

I would be very interested in seeing both trigger guard and stock offerings for the No. 1. I have a donor rifle in the safe waiting to be turned into a .360 NE No. 2. Probably have George at Treebone turn the blanks from some premium walnut I have stashed.

I'd love to see the lever strengthened so that it did not have any play from side to side. I am interested in all the above as well. I surprised there are not more number one stock options. They need a little help in the stock geometry.

Make a wood and bondo model, paint it black and take a picture of it; no one will commit to a vague idea.

Check their website, quite a few have been made. Tom "TSquare" has one. Beautiful looking rifles.
