Hello, I am considering a rebarrel of a CZ 550 (416 Rigby) to a 450 Rigby. But I would also consider stepping up to a 505 Gibbs. Can anyone tell me if the Gibbs case would fit the bolt face of the Rigby without any extra work? I know the Gibbs base is bigger than the Rigby but I have not had anything like this done before and all advice is appreciated. Regards Stu

The Gibbs case has a .635" rim and the Rigby has a .586 rim so, you're looking at .051" larger or .026" larger on the radius. It's doable for sure but it leaves very little lip (.700 minus .635" = .0325") on the bolt. "I ask, sir, what is the Militia? It is the whole people. stuey - don't let me talk you out of a 450 Rigby, but the .416 with Woodleigh's 450gr softs and solids would get you real close to 450 performance without the extra costs.

Thanks masterifleman, thats one huge case on the 505, I might reconsider in light of you info. New guy, I have given this some thought and have found the current rifle just does not work for me. The stock is wrong and the express sights are horrible. If I am going to restock and change the sights, I thought I might rebarrel at the same time for the BIGGER RIGBY. I actually need a .500 + caliber for club purposes and was considering the 505 for that reason. Has anyone necked up a Rigby case to a .500 dia bullet? Regards Stu
