TC1 and the others who have asked for updates...here you go. My 416 Taylor dream gun is done. Lon Paul did all the fine work, both metal and wood. Joe Smithson's bases and rings. The gun shoots GREAT! Under an inch, can you imagine that? Please do not tell me how pretty it is, it isn’t pretty, its damn mean SUCKA. Seriously, all the accolades should go to Lon Paul, an artist with metal and wood. On to the photos… We posted a good many more photos on our website. Look under "Luxus Projects" then the "416 Taylor...by Lon Paul" Thanks, Adam

Adam, it was worth taking you off "ignore" to see those photos. That is one beautiful rifle built for serious hunting. The photos on your website are first rate...everyone should take a look there as they can be enlarged to get a detailed look. http://www.luxusgunstock.com/html/body_416.html Speaking of detail, there are so many terrific details evident I just have to see this one in person. Do you plan on bringing it to any of the shows this winter? I have two other questions: What's the weight? Who did the engraving? Others asked this question as well and I didn't see the engraver's name mentioned on your website either. Whoever did the engraving deserves deserves a round of applause. Their work really showcased Lon's efforts nicely. Man, I could just go on and on about this rifle. It is first rate! We are all so lucky to be surrounded by so much talent. Oh, one more question...did you get that blank from Great American Gunstocks? ______________________________ "Truth is the daughter of time." Francis Bacon

Very very beautiful. Perfect stock geometry, commercial FN action, no better choice. Lon can work magic with CZ550s and ZKKs too. And I believe he has one of the few remaining supplies of Vektor magnum Mauser actions, bought them from the importer in Alaska. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Adam, It's great to see your rifle. It must be a joy to have and get to use one as nice as this. Lon Paul sure does fine work. That's also a great piece of wood. Picking the one you want from the thousands of blanks there at Luxus had to have been an adventure and joy unto itself. I look forward to seeing you in Reno in January, know that your honesty and the discussions we've had have been of great value to me. I hope to talk again with you soon. Give me a call some time. And to Lon Paul---if you are in our midst, I take my hat off to you. You again raise the bar for custom gun work. Our conversation and your friendly (requested) critique of my work a few months ago was greatly appreciated.

Thanks all for the comments. Sorry for the long lapse in response...i was hunting. Not with this gun, but rest assured it is going to be bloody ASAP! As pretty as it is now i can hardly wait for the years of patina from blood, sweat, rain, snow and dirt. I personally like a gun that was nicely built and has been handled and shot through the years. The engraver was Phil Quigley 480-235-9858 and i am very pleased with the work he did. I will update the Luxus website soon with all the info and particulars about this rifle. ForrestB, I will be at Dallas and Reno, gun in hand, so to speak. I have some friends that are wanting to see it in person. Look me up at either of the shows. Trez, thanks and i just looked at the Gibbs, its looking good...talk soon. Also Forrest...Tell me it isn’t so, i am not on your ignore list am i? Or am i listed with everyone?? As for the weight, it is 9 lbs 4 ounces with the scope and rings attached. When they are off it is probably about a pound lighter. It handles like a gun weighing a great deal less. Great balance and very lively in hand. Recoil is mild. It seems to already have a liking for 400 Hornady IB's, 71 grains of 4320 at 2,329 fps (23" barrel) and printing .670" with no signs of pressure. I will list the guns details in a little while. Right now i have to take care of gunstock blank orders, and not for Great American! haha.

No, you're not on my ignore list but I do need to block your website. Everytime I visit your site, I start daydreaming and it ends up costing me a lot of money. Last time it was a couple of two piece blanks that I didn't even realize I needed. You'd better handcuff that rifle to your wrist while at the DSC show. See you there...I'll be the guy just hanging around a little too much. ______________________________ "Truth is the daughter of time." Francis Bacon

Haha, Try living around this many blanks everyday! It is very tough to deal with mentally. And then remember that we do not keep the best blanks for ourselves, we use defective blanks for our personal projects. Blanks we think will turn well and loose the problem in the turning. I have gotten good at planning layouts and cutting away defects! Stop by my booth at DSC, i may have the rifle chained to something for viewing. Something heavy and cumbersome. Looking forward to it. By the way, we just planned off some 1,200 rifle blanks and are posting some of the nicer blanks online presently. Start watching the site over the next few weeks. Thanks again.

You may never have to shoot that thing, the looks of that rifle are enough to kill. Do they have a name for the disease that gives you orgasms when you look at a rifle? or am I the only one suffering from this rare disorder? The price of knowledge is great but the price of ignorance is even greater.

AFreeman. That is one exquisite rifle. Could you post a closeup of that rear peep sight? Does it sit behind the scope ring when the scope is mounted on the rifle? It looks as though the sight will need to be taken off to mount a scope. I tried to enlarge that section of your photo but the detail fell apart. Harris, Thanks. As for the disease...yikes! Humbarger, Thanks, here are some more photos from our website. Lon is also going to have some more images up on his site soon www.lonpaulcustomguns.com I have seen Lons images and they are very nice and clear. If you want me to email you some others send me an email at the Luxus site or PM me. It is a nice gun and i am extremely pleased with the gun as a whole and in detail. Now i can hardly wait to take it hunting.
