If memory serves me correctly-
(I don't have note book/your note in front of me)
Your Hand written note on Green paper??
(I didn't copy note in color)

VZ bolt shipped not 96-98 mauser bolt-correct???

You made money on the bolt's reimbursed shipping-CASH!

GET A LIFE-Move on!!!

You should direct your efforts to your Sacramento communists,
as sooner than later the only pieces of firearms related memorabilia you'll have are your 6 bolts.

Dan,

It's probably better that you just drop this and let everybody think you're a fool rather than going on and proving it further. Even a simpleton would have figured that out by now.

Craigster,
Dan is as good as I've seen on bolt handles. He has always been tops. Fair price, understands bolt timing, and turnaround time is around 10 days from the time it leaves Texas to Fairbanks, Alaska and back.

That's what I've heard, and thats's why I sent him the work. My post that started this thread was an "FYI" for guys from CA. I made no comment on his position regarding working on parts from CA. other than, "Yup, he can run his rairoad any way he wants. My shipping costs were refunded." Fast forward to page 3 and he tells us all that he works on CA. parts all the time and that I must have a sore pussy. Sounds like something a twelve year old might say. So what do you think, I made this all up for fun?

None of us knows but you and Dan. Some of it may be interpretation. Just stating my experience.

I dunno...seems pretty straight forward to me...

The supplier says

1) I won't ship stuff to CA

The supplier is called out on that and now the supplier says:

2) Not shipping to CA was a BS line, I ship to CA all the time

3) The problem is you gave me bad instructions

But funny, the supplier seems to have the time to get in a war on the internet...but this same supplier who is supposed to be the stand up guy didn't have the time to email the customer and say

4) I need more details on what you want done?

Mike

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

Very valid point..

An email or phone call would have helped. Not defending Dan or Craig but If Dans work load is as high as it is he may have just been pissed off that for the umteenth time some one sent him a bolt with very vague instructions.

Ask anyone I've worked for here how many emails I send getting details taken care of. I'm a very detailed person and do my best to leave nothing to a guess. But we are all human

Kevin,
This is for you.

I probably have some more that he has done. His website tells what he does and his contact and fees. Dan can be pretty blunt and to the point. He hasn't lied to me. You may not like his demeanor, but you will have to go a long way to find somebody better in what he does.

Kevin, I know whatever post I make that you will instantly either question what I say and take the other side regardless. It amuses me that you have the time to follow me. Most attorneys that I know have to work for a living.

One or two good cases a year and he could sit fat and happy.

Craigster, your making yourself look bad in my opinion. Kevin, I believe Jeromme Glimm did that one.

I respectfully disagree. In fact I take exception to anyone saying that Craigster is making himself look bad.

Butch, please take a step back and look at what both Dan and Craigster have posted. A guy would have to be blind to not see who is making them self look bad.

Dan hasn't give a satisfactory explanation as to why he originally claimed that he would not sell/ship to CA(because of the CA DOJ BS) and now states that he ships to CA all the time and will continue to do so.

It is clear to me, after talking to Dan twice(not just reading a thread on AR and forming an opinion) that Dan was wrong about the rules and has flipped positions now that he has been show that he was incorrect.

As far as Dan's name calling diatribe, after speaking to him when he was in his "after hours relax mode" I would be willing to bet that it was written while he was well into "relax mode".

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.
