I have an opening in my inventory for a .25 cal. rifle. I ask you all to comment on whether that rifle should be a 25/06, 257 Bob AI or something I haven't considered. My action is a 1987 Ruger #1. What do you folks think?

+2 for the Roberts OR a 250-3000 deep throated and a twist to handle large for caliber bullets. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

My opinion would depend on the rifle you were planning. bolt action I would do the 257 Roberts. (personally not a fan of the 25-06 and if I were given one I'd change it, trade it or sell it ) but a savage 99 in 250-3000 would make a stellar truck gun/deer rifle. I think Ruger also made the original 77 tang safeties in 250-3000 at one point. I seem to remember seeing one at a show and wishing at the time I had the money for it. (back when I foolishly believed that my wife would enjoy shooting with me if she had her own rifle). Red

257 Roberts plain. I hve one in my Hyper Single falling block and I also have Mike Walker's Mod 722 in 257 Roberts. They are both very accurate. Even though they are both factory rifles, they are closer to being customs. Butch
