I have an opening in my inventory for a .25 cal. rifle. I ask you all to comment on whether that rifle should be a 25/06, 257 Bob AI or something I haven't considered. My action is a 1987 Ruger #1.
What do you folks think?

My opinion would depend on the rifle you were planning. bolt action I would do the 257 Roberts. (personally not a fan of the 25-06 and if I were given one I'd change it, trade it or sell it Smiler )

but a savage 99 in 250-3000 would make a stellar truck gun/deer rifle. I think Ruger also made the original 77 tang safeties in 250-3000 at one point. I seem to remember seeing one at a show and wishing at the time I had the money for it. (back when I foolishly believed that my wife would enjoy shooting with me if she had her own rifle).

257 Roberts plain. I hve one in my Hyper Single falling block and I also have Mike Walker's Mod 722 in 257 Roberts. They are both very accurate. Even though they are both factory rifles, they are closer to being customs.
