Thanks to several of the members I have added some new stock patterns. As I get pictures of them I'll add them. Tiggertate was kind enough to let me make a copy of his Montana PH action stock. ![]() ![]() This is a M70 LA classic ![]() M98 from zlr ![]() M98 Whitworth That needs the grip smoothed out ![]() Mini Mauser ![]() M 98 ![]() Old Style 98 ![]() This is what I call an old classic. ![]() While this is more a new classic. ![]() As usual just my $.02 Paul K

The Mini Mauser is simply the Remington 799 factory stock. Which to me has too much wood on it. I was thinking about making a new stock being a thinned down front and one of my other butts. What combination would make a nice Mini stock?? As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Can you do one of the classic styles in smallring 98?

I would have to say maybe. If it is a small ring std length 7.835" between action screw centers then I could either leave the front ring area uncut or cut a starter groove. If the spacing is different then I currently don't have a pattern. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

xausa If the question is "is there enough wood in the cheek piece to allow a reshape" the answer is yes. I have two old style mauser stocks that have this cheek piece that have been cut short. I need to add a spacer to get them back to the right OAL. They do have a much slimmer forearm. If that is your stock we could simply copy it. Hopefully the pad is removable and I simply drill a couple small screw holes in the front of the barrel channel. Put a layer of tape over the wood. If you allow me to make a pattern there wouldn't be any additional setup charge. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Paul - I have a couple of questions and of course the first one is the (ball-park) cost? The second is, can a client supply his own blank? The third is I have a small ring 21H Brno stock I would be willing to lend you as a pattern. It would be the stock I need copied. --- John

John I'm currently running a discount. $100 to copy my pattern. $115 to copy yours assuming minimal work to get it ready to mount. By all means your wood. If you need a source contact Cecil Fredi. He has some good wood at good prices. Using your stock shouldn't be an issue. Assuming the pad comes off so I can attach it easily. If not then I can still clamp to it. In those cases I leave extra wood along the butt the customer has to remove. If I need to build a tapered spacer to fill the void then there is some extra setup. I have a jig that mounts in the end of the barrel channel that requires a couple holes. Nothing that shows. The guides for the duplicator are nylon. If need be the stock can be covered in tape as extra protection. Normally a good coat of paste wax will minimize or eliminate any marks. Is that your 7x57 modified stock? Paul; No it's not my modified stock - still working on that "beauty". I have several more of those 21H stocks to consider. Your price is not bad IMHO, but I'll need to look into shipping an item back & forth across the great divide (border). The fact is I have purchased most of my blanks from Cecil. Will have a nice maple blank coming shortly. Thanks for your reply. --- John

Ramrod, I was looking at a saved picture of your, "Old Classic" just last week, so this posting is quite timely. I will dig out some saved wood blanks from the spare room and send you a PM after I take pictures (with measurements to see if they will work). Thank you for providing your service. 'dart ![]()

It´s very nice to see that someone in there "other side of Big Bond" do stock designed for classic Mauser rifles with scope. I always prefer that kind of cheek piece. ![]()

Yep I wish I had that pattern. Only thing close I have is the Whitworth or a pattern that is way TOO thin in the forearm. Even the Whitworth has too much wood on the cheek piece. As usual just my $.02 Paul K
