If you're talking about the system 98...either small or large ring Mausers use the same buttress threads on the bolt shroud..same diameter bolt..... You're time /money ahead purchasing a Gentry unit. If you want to get really tight fit, use a La Pour, but these require LOTS of fitting. The conversion you mention is a TWO position safety...does not allow easy disassemby of the bolt innards

Jim Kobe does very nice work, from what I hear. He has volunteered to find some parts for me and do some work very reasonably in the distant past. Don't recognize the screen name but if I did one of the Gentry's for you, don't ask me to do another, they are a POS and flat don't work. Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

If you want an extremely well made 3 position fo your mauser and you want it to look "sort of" like your original mauser safety you can't do better than ones like I purchased from Timan, as shown in the photo. Another option for a mauser, also shown in the photo, is the FN type, which operates on the left side. And I also believe Timan offers 3 positions that operate from the left side as well.
