I have this Ruger M77 action that I have had forever, it was the original rifle my grandfather gave me when I was 14. I need to do something with it. I want a 9.3x64 and I want to know if it would work? I can't think of any reason it wouldn't but then again, I am not a gunsmith, just a rifle nut.

assuming it's not a magnum bolt face, this should be pretty easy.. i would suggest you use the x62, which doesn't have the odd case head. jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Yep, you would do well to consider the 9.3x62 as the Ruger 77 is not known for a long magazine box which is what the 9.3x64 really needs. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Probably have a problem with the barrel contour on a 9.3, if you're starting with a .30 cal-type barrel M77. The recoil lug on a .30-style is enough for a 9.3x62, but if the 9.3x64 is more powerful, you might also have problems with the recoil lug. Ruger used a beefier lug for the .375, IIRC. It will work fine. Here is a picture of a 375 that is on the 9.3X64 case that started life as a tang safety Ruger 77. I simply call it my 9.5X64. The action now has a Timney trigger and a PME three position model 70 type safety. ****************************** "We do not exaggerate when we state positively that the remodelled Springfield is the best and most suitable "all 'round" rifle".......Seymour Griffin, GRIFFIN & HOWE, Inc.
