D999.3x64 in the old Ruger M77
I have this Ruger M77 action that I have had forever, it was the original rifle my grandfather gave me when I was 14.
I need to do something with it. I want a 9.3x64 and I want to know if it would work? I can't think of any reason it wouldn't but then again, I am not a gunsmith, just a rifle nut.

jeffeossoassuming it's not a magnum bolt face, this should be pretty easy.. i would suggest you use the x62, which doesn't have the odd case head.

D HumbargerYep, you would do well to consider the 9.3x62 as the Ruger 77 is not known for a long magazine box which is what the 9.3x64 really needs.

JaywalkerProbably have a problem with the barrel contour on a 9.3, if you're starting with a .30 cal-type barrel M77. The recoil lug on a .30-style is enough for a 9.3x62, but if the 9.3x64 is more powerful, you might also have problems with the recoil lug. Ruger used a beefier lug for the .375, IIRC.

IdaredIt will work fine. Here is a picture of a 375 that is on the 9.3X64 case that started life as a tang safety Ruger 77. I simply call it my 9.5X64.

The action now has a Timney trigger and a PME three position model 70 type safety.
