i once heard from a mechinical engineer, upon us reviewing a burst marlin, that the point of rupture, AFTER, is very close to 1/2 the distance from the nose ofthe bullet to the obstruction .. it seemed reasonable at the time, and I've seen videos of a dropped rifle being fired and bursting like this .. the LONG petals indicate a near the muzzle obstruction... btw, the marlin had a bullet lodged in the bore, and it was evident... and i've never seen a picture like this that someone blaims on a hawk bullet, though the burst pattern would be alike opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Funny thing: Before I went to the site, I thought "Probably an A-Bolt" Swear to God! When in WI, visited with Boots Obermeyer a lot..he had A-bolts with both failed barrels and failed acions...always a lo temp failure...any correlation?...Somthing with low temps and stainless | |||

Probably why Kreiger will only go so small on SS barrel profiles. I think they mention undesirable results at very low temperatures. | |||
