BobsterBarrel rupture
http://www.gunpartscorp.com/fo...aspx?g=posts&t=73077I spied this in the Numrich forum. Interesting symmetry. You can't say that wasn't a uniform barrel. Note what appears to be heavy metal fouling.

jeffeossoi once heard from a mechinical engineer, upon us reviewing a burst marlin, that the point of rupture, AFTER, is very close to 1/2 the distance from the nose ofthe bullet to the obstruction .. it seemed reasonable at the time, and I've seen videos of a dropped rifle being fired and bursting like this .. the LONG petals indicate a near the muzzle obstruction...
btw, the marlin had a bullet lodged in the bore, and it was evident...
and i've never seen a picture like this that someone blaims on a hawk bullet, though the burst pattern would be alike

Duane WiebeFunny thing: Before I went to the site, I thought "Probably an A-Bolt" Swear to God!
When in WI, visited with Boots Obermeyer a lot..he had A-bolts with both failed barrels and failed acions...always a lo temp failure...any correlation?...Somthing with low temps and stainless

Probably why Kreiger will only go so small on SS barrel profiles. I think they mention undesirable results at very low temperatures.
