Hello all, Is there a solvent that will remove cured LOCTITE 271? I just removed the bases from a rifle's receiver ring and bridge and there is some residue from the LOCTITE under them. Thanks a lot! Good hunting, Jim

You might try Carb Cleaner, I use Wally World brand and it has removed Loc-Tite for me quite a few times. Not sure which Loc Tite it was. Didn't hurt the bluing either. Steve........... NRA Patron Life Member GOA Life Member North American Hunting Club Life Member USAF Veteran

Heat. Try a hot air gun. Acetone may also work.

A wet rag and fingernail, I've found water seems to dissolve thread lockers better than petroleum based solvents. John Farner If you haven't, please join the NRA!

Loctite 271 is a saccharin based thread locker. Yes, the same stuff in diet soda. Hot water usually does the trick. If you need to, methylene chloride is the manufacturer recommended remover. Paint/varnish removers often have methylene chloride in them. We use a lot of this in the steel mill, and I clean it up a lot when we tear into equipment. Jeremy
