We just received the above into the shop in excellent condition. Function testing revealed it would double feed and jam two rounds in the carrier. Further inspection reveals it has a shell latch/stop on the right hand side of the receiver vs one on the left as in all M48's we have seen. There are shell stop mortises on both sides of the receiver? Can't find any schematics on the .410. Anybody have any experience with these little devils? Thanks, Bob

They show one latch on the left. Didn't know if the .410 was different.

I don't have a .410 to look at but my 28 guage and 12 guage 48's are identical except the scale. Both have the release on the right that doubles as a shell stop for the tube magazine. The 28's frame and all parts being scaled down. I figured a 410 would be same as a 28 but have never actually messed with one.

I think. If that makes any sense. Probably not. That's all I got. When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years! Rod Henrickson

Thanks Rod. I'll check it out Wednesday when I get back to the shop. By the grace of God we have an original .410 shell latch left over from the previous 'smith!
