I recently picked up a bolt body in a buy. It is for some type of Mauser clone. The bolt is Stnd length Mauser M98 style with the enlarged rear end. Threaded for a M98 shroud. It has the third safety lug, but no guide rib. Only one 5 mm round gas vent hole between the extractor collar and the bolt head. The bolt head is like that of a '93-'96 Mauser. Extractor cuts indicate it is machined for a M93-M96 style extractor, not a M98 style. Bolt handle is integrally forged and nicely swept with an "onion" style knob and neat scallop. Any idea what this fits?

Husqvarna sporting rifle. HVA, They used a mix of 96 and 98 features; but also used a Model 70 type ejector set at an angle in the receiver, and had the 93/4/5/6 bolt head. Mine has a guide rib. And a tiny lever type bolt stop; not a box.

Pretty sure it’s not a husqvarna bolt - not a 1640 anyway (which is their own CRF action) as it doesn’t have a split lug, and all the ones I’ve seen have a rib.
It’s not a 1900 cos they’re push feed, and otherwise they used 96 or FN 98 actions I believe?

by HVA do you mean 1640 (HVA being the name of the company)? I know about the 8000 (also known as 1900) but what other action did they make that wasn’t a 94/96/M38 clone?

Revision: It takes a M98 extractor and collar. The bolthead however does not have the extractor undercut to prevent the extractor from springing outward on extraction.

And it has the left/upper locking lug all the way to the end; therefore can't have the inner collar of the 98. Anyway, Bobs bolt is none of these. Here are the only swedish bolts I have ever seen and that is not one of them. The one with the Model 70 type ejector is obviously not a 96 clone. De Haas calls it the HVA actions on page 189 of his book and that is the 1640; not a 96 clone. Mag box is different too, as is the bolt stop.

Yes, it is shaping up to be an attempt at cost cutting. Elimination of the internal ring, no guide rib, no large gas escape holes. An unusual bird indeed.

I purchased a few bolts and receivers from P and H, the Mauser receivers came with Springfield Bolts, the Springfield bolt was a bargain but had to be fitted. I would have been better off if I had ordered extra bolt stops.
And then there were the other Springfield bolts, what a bargain?
I sent a couple fZH complete actons off to heat treat not long ago, so have to rely on "Old man" memory.
They did have the entended lug and a somewhat abbreviated C ring
FZH makes a lot of models, The absence of guide rib? Well I also have an FZH bolt that is .010 oversize in all dimensions...Near as I can tell, won't fit anything!...but they made it for something!
While waiting, maybe someone has a sample or two to compare?
