I've acquired a new-to-me custom rifle based on a pre-64 Winchester that appears to have an MPI stock on it. While I hunt for the unicorn Pacific Research stock for it, I'd like to find someone (not me) to paint it with a textured paint that will afford a better grip than the slick MPI stock. I've had McMillan stocks custom painted, but don't recall ever seeing anyone who advertised a paint texture that roughed up the fiberglass shell. Suggestions? thanks

You might try one of the stone finishes. Take a look at this thread for info. http://forums.accuratereloadin...1080861/m/7701034402 Roger ___________________________ I'm a trophy hunter - until something better comes along. *we band of 45-70ers*

Wrinkle paint; I have used it but forgot where I got it. Brownells or wal mart probably. It goes on smooth and turns wrinkled after one minute. I use it on WW2 Voltage Regulators. Correct finish for those.

The stone finishes work well, I have a couple done with that. You can also tape the wrist and forearm off and use epoxy mixed with sand. Spread it on and let it cure. Not a lot of sand, just enough to get the texture you want. Once cured, paint the stock whatever color you want. Jeremy

Rust-Oleum makes a textured aerosol paint that works very well, comes in a variety of colors, #223526 Deep Forest is a dark green color that looks great, hides a lot of surface imperfections, find at Home Depot, etc. After it cures it is relatively fragile, spray with a couple of coats of matte clear poly, still plenty of grip and wears like iron, cheap, easy to do.
