Cool rifle, and it appears to be in great shape too. I particularly like the peep and the octagon to round barrel.

That is pretty nice. Does anyone know how the wavy treatment is done on the top of the rib? That really sets it off.

Normally the wavy line is pressed in with a roll die.

Roger,

How would one emulate this today?

I have considered making tooling to replicate this for my octagon barrels, but the time/cost seems unrealistic for the amount of demand.

Is this something an engraver such as your self could do? Or would the cost be prohibitive?

See if Turnbull has the roll die for it. That would be the cheapest I suppose.

If you want to be able to do it yourself, try A.G. Russel. They make roll dies. You might create a niche for rolling barrels. I mean, who doesn't like the wavy matte line.
