Is a rebore/re-rilfe/rechamber possible to convert a 243 Win. to a 25-308 or is the only way a rebarrel? Thanks, Mark in GA

I don't see why not, since a 243 is already a necked down 308 win but after the change is made the barrel may need set back and the chamber recut so it may not save any money over a rebarrel.

Yes, this should be possible. There is enough bore difference to make it feasible. Give Dan Pederson a call..l

Is the .014 difference really enough difference for a good rebore?

Yes, there is, but in reality no, there's probably not enough change to recut the bore without EXTENSIVE (and expensive) over head to make certain you are cutting a totally new bore and groove... new barrel is cheaper jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? IMO it's a marginal task and financially worse. Get a new barrel. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Well, I just called Danny at www.cutrifle.com He says it is not a problem going from 243 to 257 unless the 243 bore is really rough and pitted. Not a problem otherwise. Yes, it is cheaper than rebarreling. Dan charges $265, which won't even cover a Shaw barrel job...
