I looked in Miscellaneous and it's not there.....Saeed moves them there when they are too far out to lunch.......

There's several threads running on AR that I can easliy live without.....it's just easy to ignore them.....but I like it when they are moved to Miscellaneous.

One of them is moved there.....the Allen Day pissers thread
and the 204 VS 220 swift thread is also a looser.......funny for a while but soon looses it's humor.

I didn't think the $100 chambering issue was that bad.....yet....but I won't miss it.

Why is debating the proper/different procedures for setting up and chambering a rifle barrel not related to gunsmithing...and who attacked the gentlemans work or his abilities, other than questioning his ability to accurately read a clock while working on a rifle?

I believe there were more posts from people praising his work than there were from those questioning his time frame for completing that work.

Anyone is free to come on this site and post replies to anything that anyone has said. I don’t personally know the one particular gunsmith who went out of business (and I think you all know who I’m talking about), but that poor guy has been trashed more times and called more names than just about anyone on here and I don’t remember anyone removing all that. Nor did anyone remove all the derogatory posts about Matt Williams just a week or so ago.

Seems like people are getting pretty thinned skinned on here.

The only derogatory name I recall seeing (Hack) was used as sarcasm by a person who was was defending the gentleman in question.

If I remember, what was said was : “So what are you saying.....is a Hack and you’re an expert?“...or something to that effect.

The term Hack was not used against the gunsmith it was used in his defense and against one of his detractors.

I figured it got pulled cause some of the gunsmiths didn't want folks to know that there's a good dependable gunsmith out there who will do a basic barrel swap for $50 plus shipping. Smiler

How is the Charity Project coming along? It has been well over a year now since it was supposedly started. Since I donated the barrel I would really like to see a photo of the finished project, and also learn how the project helped the Organization it was intended to help.

22wrf,

Supposedly started? I will not take the bait. Sorry. The barreled action is currently at the metalsmith. He is going to turn down the barrel to make it a lighter taper and lighten the MRC action. We both thought it was to heavy for a 7x57.

I guess brother! I didn’t have any problem understanding what you were saying, and that’s why I was surprised at people saying that someone had called this guy a “Hack.â€

Oh well, just about anything said on any topic is bound to piss off 50% of the people out there.

If anything I thought that thread showed that this guy has several loyal customers who will use him in the future and that are ready to defend him against others. We should all be so lucky! Smiler

When a gunsmith that was not the topic of discussion is slaughtered for reader edification, that is not fair play.

had that smith been on the forum, that's another issue.

WHAT a person charges isn't an issue, in fact, here's a link to an ebay fella that will provide the BARREL and install for 150

I was just kidding with the conspiracy theory about the other smiths wanting the thread pulled. The $150 ebay deal is the same way the guy we were talking about used to advertise. I think he still does occasionally.

Well, jeffe I would refer you back to my statements concerning at least two other people that have been trashed unmercefully on this site while they were not on the forum either, and I never saw you delete any of those posts out of a sense of “fair-play.â€

Thats not a new standard. There has always been a standard here on AR against slander, mocking, and profane language. Moreover the loose rules kind of suggest that one is supposed to stay on topic. I started the $100 barrel thread to inquire about a cheaper barrel becasue I was putting together a rifle as a gift and I didn't want to spend so much money. I didn't ask about how much time it took, or what kind of quality one got for $100. All I wanted to know was whether one could get a barrel installed for $100 these days. Some folks gave me good advice. Others turned it into a game of oneupsmanship.

You know...I normally wouldn’t say anything (yeah right!) but why don’t you go visit a site that deals with knitting or interior decorating or something?

In case you have been living on the moon, most teenagers out there would make a Marine Corps DI blush with their language.

I'm with Jeffe on this one. There were a lot of derogatory remarks made about the man by people that had never even used his services. The man is trying to make a living providing a service on the lower end of his chosen trade. His gunsmith skills and ethics were attacked for no other reason than the price he charges for his work. Words mean things and when you do this you're basically taking food off his table. This isn't his hobby, it's how he feeds his family. I had nothing to do with it but I'm glad it was done.

Terry,

With all due respect, that thread was a very good piece of advertisement (IMO) for this man. As I stated earlier, there were more positive posts about his work, his ethics, and his service to his cutomers than there were posts from myself and a couple others questioning whether or not he could work as fast as some were claiming he could.

I know that I posted several times stating that I was not at all questioning his abilites or his work...only the claims of the speed that he supposedly performed certain tasks.

If questioning something like that constitutes “trashing†someone then you guys better go back and rethink that term.

My God...one of the men I referred to earlier even had some guy post his home address, his home phone number, and even went so far as to give detailed directions to his house and where he kept the rifles in his shop, and I never saw jeffe deleting any of that out of this supposed sense of “fair-play.â€

Let’s have some consistency if we’re gonna be so friggin (there is that better 22WRF?) righteous.
