misunderstandings happen.....I suspect Paul Mauser asked his machinists to make him a small ring '98 with a dovetailed sight and they misunderstood...it happens that way sometimes.

I saw this the other day, if I was a decent welder, unemployeed and bored, I might pick this POS out of my scap metal bucket and screw around with it. Other than that, no thanks.

The receiver ring dovetail looks consistent with work done on original Oberndorf commerical Mausers at the factory. Lots of pictures of such things in the book by Jon Speed, Walter Schmid, & Reiner Herr.
